Sq ft or running ft?

Square feet measure an area: width × height. Glass partitions, windows, mesh, ACP cladding and sheds are priced this way. Running feet measure a length along the floor: railings, handrails and grills along a boundary are priced per running ft, so only the length counts.

Converting units

1 ft = 12 in = 304.8 mm. 1 sq m = 10.764 sq ft. A 1,200 × 2,100 mm panel is 3.94 × 6.89 ft, or 27.1 sq ft.

For prices, use the glass partition cost calculator or the full rate card.

Common questions

How do I convert mm to sq ft?

Multiply width by height in mm, then divide by 92,903. A 1,000 × 2,000 mm panel is 2,000,000 ÷ 92,903 = 21.5 sq ft.

What is a running foot?

A length measured along one direction, ignoring height. A 12 ft balcony railing is 12 running ft whether it is 3 ft or 3.5 ft tall.

Should I measure the glass or the opening?

The opening. The fabricator works out the glass sizes from it, allowing for gaps, hinges and channels.
