Cabin with a door, fixed wall or aluminium frame: which suits your floor?

Choose this style when the space has to behave as a room: people walk in and out all day and the door has to close behind them. A manager's cabin on the window line, a four-to-six seat meeting room, an interview or HR room near reception.

If nobody needs to pass through the glass, a fixed frameless glass wall does the job at ₹350 per sq ft, because there is no door gear to buy or set. A reception backdrop or a screen between two teams usually falls into that camp.

What a frameless cabin is made of

Every panel is 12mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass. Toughening happens after the glass has been cut, edged and drilled, which is why nothing can be trimmed on site and why the measurement taken at the visit matters so much. If toughened glass does break, it falls into small blunt granules rather than long shards.

The fixed panels are held at the floor, the ceiling and the walls with SS304 anti-rust fittings, usually slim clamps or channels chosen to suit the false ceiling and the floor finish. The door is commonly hung on a floor machine (floor spring) set into the floor, with patch fittings at the top and bottom corners of the leaf. That floor machine carries a 2 year functional warranty. As with all our work, the warranty covers fittings, not the glass.

Handles, locks and any frosted film or safety bands are settled at the visit. A frosted band at desk height is common where screens face a corridor, and a marking at eye level is sensible on any clear glass door so nobody walks into it.

What decides the price of a glass cabin

The rate is per square foot of glass, not of the floor the cabin encloses. A 10 × 12 ft cabin built into a corner may need only two glass sides, while the same cabin in the middle of the floor needs four, and twice the glass.

At the starting rate of ₹400 per sq ft, three common runs work out like this:

Front wall only, 10 ft wide × 9 ft high (90 sq ft): ₹36,000

Corner cabin, 10 ft + 8 ft of glass × 9 ft high (162 sq ft): ₹64,800

Meeting-room front, 14 ft × 9.5 ft (133 sq ft): ₹53,200

The final figure moves with frosted or fluted glass instead of clear, a double door instead of a single leaf, locks, ceiling height (a taller wall is more glass and heavier handling) and access, such as a high floor where every panel must fit the service lift. How a cabin job runs, from visit to handover

Book the ₹99 site visit and the team usually comes within 24–48 hours. They measure wall to wall and slab to ceiling, check the floor where the floor machine will sit, note the false ceiling and the AC ducts above it, and look at how glass will reach your floor. The visit fee is adjusted against the final bill if you go ahead.

The written quotation aims to reach you within about 2 hours of the visit and stays valid for 3 days. On approval, a 50% advance starts fabrication. The glass is cut and toughened to your sizes, which generally takes 7–10 days, and the installation date is confirmed for your site.

Looking after the door once the cabin is in use

The glass needs only a soft cloth and a mild glass cleaner; scourers and blades leave marks. The part doing the real work is the floor machine, which opens and closes the door thousands of times a month in a busy office.

Watch for the early signs: a door that no longer swings fully shut, one that slams, or one that has started to brush the floor.
