Office glass partitions and cabins in Delhi

A worked example: a manager's cabin in Nehru Place

Say the cabin closes off a 10 ft by 8 ft corner, so two glass sides of 10 ft and 8 ft at 8.5 ft high: about 153 sq ft of glass including the door. As a frameless cabin with door that is about ₹61,200; as an aluminium-framed cabin, about ₹1,68,300. If the same corner only needed an open glass screen with no door, a fixed frameless partition would be about ₹53,550. Before the glass is ordered: landlord, building and hours

• Landlord consent: most commercial leases in Delhi need written permission for fit-out, even non-structural glass.
• Building management: towers in Nehru Place, Jasola and CP often restrict drilling and noisy work to evenings or Sundays and need a worker list in advance.
• Floor spring cut-out: a frameless door needs a pocket in the floor; on a raised floor or a slab with conduits under it, the visit checks where it can go.
• Fire and sprinklers: full-height glass should not block a sprinkler head or smoke detector; sometimes the cabin stops short of the ceiling for this.
