Gates, Shutters, Mezzanines & Office Cabins in Naraina and Mayapuri

Naraina Industrial Area and Mayapuri Industrial Area sit side by side in West Delhi, each in two phases, with Naraina Vihar's residential colony next door. They are among the city's older planned industrial estates: plots with sheds, multi-storey factory buildings, printing presses, garment units, warehouses and, in Mayapuri, a large auto-parts and vehicle scrap trade. Nothing here is decorative for its own sake. Gates are opened by trucks, shutters are hit by forklifts, and steel has to survive dust and diesel fumes. The brief is usually strength, then cost, then looks.

Gates and shutters that take a beating

A factory gate here may open dozens of times a day for trucks. An MS sliding gate is the usual answer for wide entries, on a heavy track with a stop at each end. More floor area inside an existing shed

Industrial plots have fixed coverage, but many older sheds have the height for an extra level. An MS mezzanine floor adds storage or office space without new construction outside. In a factory, the load can be serious, so the design starts from what will sit on it.

The owner's cabin

Most units want a quiet, dust-sealed office on the shop floor where the owner can see production. Sheds, canopies and facades

Open yards need cover for loading and for vehicles. A car parking shed or a larger MS and sheet structure keeps rain off goods during loading. Naraina Vihar, the residential colony beside the industrial area, has the usual plotted-house needs: grills, gates, terrace sheds and bathroom glass.
