Mezzanine Floors, Stairs and Gates for Naraina and Mayapuri Units
In Naraina and Mayapuri, the biggest metal jobs are MS mezzanine floors that add storage inside an existing shed, the stairs that serve them, and heavy sliding gates for truck entries. Each is designed from the load and the use, and quoted after a ₹99 site visit.

Naraina and Mayapuri are two of West Delhi's older planned industrial estates, home to printing presses, garment units, auto-parts traders, scrap dealers and warehouses. Plots are fully built, so growth happens inside: a mezzanine in a tall shed, a stair to the roof, a stronger gate for bigger trucks. Our Naraina and Mayapuri area page gives the overview. This page goes into how an industrial mezzanine is specified and what to compare when you get quotes.
Specifying a factory mezzanine
An MS mezzanine floor is a steel frame of columns, main beams and joists, topped with a deck. Every size in that frame follows from four facts:
| Fact | Why it drives the design |
|---|---|
| What sits on it | Rolls of paper or fabric, cartons of parts, or desks: the load per square metre changes the beams completely |
| Clear height of the shed | Enough headroom above and below; low sheds may only suit storage |
| Floor below the columns | Columns put concentrated loads on the floor; an old thin floor may need base plates or footings |
| How goods go up | A wide stair, a loading opening with a gate, or a hoist each changes the layout |
The deck can be chequered plate, steel grating or a board on joists. Chequered plate takes trolleys and heavy stock; grating lets light and air through in a dark shed. Edges need a railing and a kick plate so nothing falls on the people below.
Stairs, gates and the rest of the steel
| Style | Why it suits an industrial unit | Price |
|---|---|---|
| MS mezzanine floor | Adds storage or office space inside a fully built plot | Quoted after visit |
| MS sliding gate | Wide truck entries with no room for a swing leaf on the service road | Quoted after visit |
| MS spiral staircase | Roof or water-tank access where a straight stair has no room | Quoted after visit |
| MS main gate | Narrower plots and front offices where a swing gate fits | Quoted after visit |
A spiral stair is compact but not for carrying goods; for a mezzanine used daily with loads, a straight stair with a landing is safer. A stair that shakes underfoot needs attention; see metal staircase wobbling.
Welding in a printing or garment unit
Paper, fabric, solvents and oil make many units here sensitive to sparks. Most of the steel is cut and drilled in the workshop and bolted on site, so on-site welding is kept short. Where welding is needed, the area is cleared, covered with fire blankets and watched, and a fire extinguisher is kept at hand. Tell us at the visit where flammable stock is kept, so the work plan takes it into account.
Comparing quotes
For industrial steel, the quote should state the mild steel sections, deck type, finish, stair and railing, and whether installation and transport are included. Our guide to comparing fabrication quotes lists what to check. Old welds on existing structures can crack under vibration; welding joint cracked explains the signs.
The job runs on the usual terms: a ₹99 site visit, usually within 24 to 48 hours; a written, all-inclusive quote aimed within about 2 hours and valid for 3 days; 50% advance to start fabrication; installation planned around your truck timings; balance on completion. See warehouses and factories, the metal fabrication catalogue and metal fabrication across Delhi, or the furniture market in nearby Kirti Nagar.
Common questions
How much does a mezzanine floor cost in a Naraina factory?
There is no fixed published rate. The area, the load it must carry, the beam and column sizes, deck type, stair and railings decide the price. After the ₹99 site visit you get a written, all-inclusive quote valid for 3 days. Payment is 50% to start fabrication and 50% on completion.
Can welding be done safely in a printing or garment unit?
Yes, with precautions. Most steel is prepared off site and bolted, keeping site welding short. Where it is needed, the area is cleared of paper and fabric, covered and watched, with an extinguisher ready. Tell us where flammable stock is kept so the work is planned around it.
Grating deck ya chequered plate, mezzanine ke liye kya lein?
Chequered plate suits heavy stock, trolleys and anything small that could fall through. Grating lets light and air reach the floor below and does not collect dust, but small items can drop through it. Many units use plate in storage zones and grating on walkways.
Does a factory mezzanine need an engineer's check?
For heavy loads, or where columns sit on an old or thin floor, an engineer's check is sensible before fabrication. For light office or carton storage use, the design is usually straightforward. We flag at the site visit when a load check is advisable.
Every metal fabrication style
- MS main gateA swing gate in mild steel for a house, builder floor or farmhouse, made to the opening and finished against rust.
- Sliding gateA gate that runs sideways on a track, for a driveway too short for a gate to swing. Motor-ready if you want one later.
- Window safety grillFixed or openable steel grills for windows and balconies, made to each opening.
- Steel safety doorA steel grill door in front of the main door, so it can stand open for air without standing open to the corridor.
- Metal staircaseSpiral or straight steel stairs to a terrace, mezzanine or loft, fabricated to the floor-to-floor height.
- Steel mezzanine floorA steel-framed extra floor inside a shop, warehouse or high-ceiling office, for storage or desks.
