MS window grills and balcony grills made to measure
Mild steel safety grills fabricated to the measured size of each window or balcony opening. A perimeter frame of MS flat or angle carries square bars, round bars, flat-bar patterns or a laser-cut jaali, fixed to the masonry with anchor fasteners or welded clamps. Fixed grills suit upper-floor windows; openable grills with hinges and a lock suit ground floors and any window that must serve as an emergency exit. Box grills project outward to leave room for plants or an AC unit. Every grill is finished in primer and enamel or powder coat, measured opening by opening.
A window grill should keep people out without making the room feel like a cell, and it should open when you need it to. FabWise measures each window and balcony separately, because no two openings in a house are quite the same, then fabricates, finishes and fits the grills in one job. Visits in Gurugram and Noida cost ₹99, adjusted against the bill.
Fixed, openable or box grill: choosing the type
A fixed grill is welded into a frame and anchored to the wall. It is the strongest and least expensive option, and it suits upper-floor windows that never need to be climbed through.
An openable grill is hinged on one side and closed with a padlock or a built-in lock. It is the right choice for ground-floor windows, bedrooms, and any window you would want as a way out in a fire. Many families fit at least one openable grill per floor for exactly that reason.
A box grill projects 9 to 18 inches out from the wall, like a small cage. It gives room for potted plants, keeps the window openable inward, and is often used to enclose an outdoor AC unit. Box grills on the street face of a building may need RWA or authority approval, so check before ordering.
Balcony grills enclose a whole balcony, usually for child safety or to keep pigeons out. In high-rise societies, these face the strictest rules; see below.
Designs, bars and patterns
The pattern decides how the grill looks from inside the room, which is where you will see it every day.
Square or round bars in a simple vertical run are plain, strong and cheap, and keep the view clear. Flat-bar patterns in a grid, diamond or horizontal bands read as more modern. Laser-cut jaali sheets carry geometric or traditional patterns cut into MS sheet, giving privacy as well as security; they let in less air and light than bars, so they suit bathrooms and street-facing rooms best. Mixed designs, bars with a decorative band or scrollwork, are what many older Gurugram houses already have and want matched on new windows.
The gap between bars matters for children. A narrow spacing, roughly 4 inches or less, stops a small child slipping through. Mention it at the visit if there are young children in the house.
For a balcony that is open rather than caged, a balcony railing in MS or stainless steel may be the better fit.
Grills in Gurugram builder floors and Noida societies
Independent houses and builder floors in areas like Palam Vihar, Sushant Lok and the DLF Phases have the most freedom. Grills on every window are common, and the ground floor often gets the heaviest ones because it faces the street.
High-rise societies are different. Most RWAs along Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road, Noida Expressway and in Noida Extension control anything that changes the facade. Grills fitted inside the window frame are often allowed; box grills and full balcony enclosures often are not, or must follow an approved society design and colour. Ask your RWA office for the rule before the visit, and the team will build to it.
For balcony enclosures, some societies prefer invisible steel-wire grills or glass balcony railing to a steel cage.
The wider range sits on the metal fabrication catalogue.
What decides the price of window grills
Grills are quoted after the visit, never by guesswork. Grills are usually priced on the total area of the openings, so ten windows naturally cost more than four. Within that, bar size and spacing decide how much steel goes in: heavier bars and closer spacing use more. Design adds labour, since laser-cut jaali and decorative work need cutting and fabrication time that plain bars do not.
Each openable grill carries hinges, an extra frame and a lock, so it costs more than a fixed one of the same size. A box grill uses far more steel than a flat grill because it has sides and a top. Finish is the usual choice between enamel and powder coat, which costs more but lasts longer.
Last comes access. Grills on the second floor and above may need scaffolding or a ladder team, and in a society the lift and working hours set by the RWA can stretch the job.
If you are doing gates, railings and grills together, they can go on one quote, which also keeps the design consistent across the house.
How the job runs, and how to look after grills
Book the ₹99 visit, which is adjusted against the final bill. The team measures every opening, notes which grills must open, and checks the wall around each window for solid masonry to anchor into. The written, all-inclusive quote usually follows within about two hours and stays valid for three days. Fabrication starts on a 50% advance, the grills are finished in the workshop, and fitting is normally done room by room so the house stays usable. The balance is paid on completion.
After that, grills need little. The places that rust first are the bottom bar, where rainwater sits, and the anchor points where the wall stays damp. Touch up chips before each monsoon and repaint enamel every two to three years. Hinges on openable grills need a drop of oil now and then so they still open in an emergency.
If existing grills are already flaking, see why metal grills rust.

Common questions
Should a window grill be fixed or openable?
Fixed grills are stronger and cheaper, and suit upper floors. Openable grills cost a little more, but they let you climb out in an emergency and make cleaning the outside of the glass possible. Most families fit openable grills on ground-floor windows and in bedrooms, and fixed grills elsewhere.
Do I need RWA permission for a balcony grill in a Noida society?
In most Noida and Gurugram high-rise societies, yes. Anything that changes the facade, such as a box grill or a full balcony enclosure, usually needs RWA approval and may have to follow a society-approved design. Grills fitted inside the window frame are more often allowed. Check with your RWA office before the site visit.
Grill ki keemat kaise tay hoti hai?
The price depends mainly on the total area of the openings, the bar size and spacing, the design and the finish. Openable grills and box grills cost more than flat fixed ones. FabWise measures every window at a ₹99 visit and sends a written, all-inclusive quote, usually within about two hours.
What bar spacing is safe for children?
A gap of around 4 inches or less between bars is commonly used where young children live, so a child cannot slip a head or body through. Horizontal bars should be avoided low down, because children use them as a ladder. Tell the team at the visit and they will design the grill for it.
Can you match the grills already on my house?
Usually, yes. Send a clear photo of the existing grill or show it at the visit, and the team will copy the bar size, pattern and spacing as closely as the available sections allow. Matching the paint colour is easiest with enamel; powder coat colours come from a shade card.

- What is cnc laser-cut jaali?A CNC laser-cut jaali is a decorative perforated screen cut from metal sheet, usually mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium, by a computer-controlled laser that follows a digital pattern, used in gates, partitions, grills, facades and railings.
- What is mild steel (ms)?Mild steel (MS) is low-carbon steel, typically about 0.05–0.25% carbon, that is strong, easy to cut and weld and inexpensive, but rusts unless it is primed and painted, powder coated or galvanised.
- What is powder coating?Powder coating is a dry finish in which electrostatically charged polymer powder is sprayed onto pretreated metal and baked in an oven, forming a tough, even film that usually outlasts liquid paint on gates, railings, windows and grills.
