Glass here is a shop front and an entrance door rather than a cabin, and the measure of a good job is simple: it opens smoothly at lunch, at dinner and at 1am, every day.

Why restaurant doors wear out faster than office doors

An office cabin door might open a hundred times a day. A busy restaurant entrance opens many times that, often by someone carrying a tray or pushing with a shoulder. All of that load goes through the floor spring and the top pivot. When they wear, the door swings past its stop, slams, or stays open. When the hydraulic seal goes, oil leaks out of the floor box. These are the three faults behind most calls from food and drink units, and none of them needs new glass.

• Door slams or closes too fast: the spring's speed valves need adjusting or the spring is worn (why it happens).
• Door will not stop where it should, or drifts open: usually the floor spring (glass door not closing).
• Oil around the floor plate: the spring has failed and should be replaced (floor spring leaking oil).
• Door scrapes the floor: the patch fitting or pivot has moved (dropped glass door).

A new front for a new tenant

Units in a food court or plaza change hands, and a new brand usually wants its own entrance. A toughened glass shop front with door uses 12mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass and SS304 anti-rust fittings, starts at ₹500 per sq ft, and its floor machine carries a 2 year functional warranty. For a typical front, the quote counts the full glazed area, door included.

Anything that changes what the plaza sees, such as the glazing line, the door position, signage or a canopy, normally needs approval from the estate's management under your lease. Interior partitions usually do not. Ask your estate office what drawings they want, and allow for it in your opening date: the approval can take longer than producing the glass.

Working around service

A restaurant cannot lose a Friday night to a contractor. Plan installation for a closed day, a morning before opening, or the quietest weekday. A door repair is a short job. A full front means the opening is out of use for part of a day, so pick the slot with your estate team first, then with us. Canopies, shutters and the rest of the front

Some units want weather cover over outdoor seating or the entrance. A glass canopy keeps the frontage open and light; it is a fabrication job with no published rate and is quoted after the visit, because the fixing into the structure decides the design.
