Stainless steel, glass and MS railings in Gurgaon

A railing in Gurgaon has to survive three seasons that each attack it differently: summer heat that bakes painted steel, dust that dulls glass and lodges in every joint, and a monsoon that finds any weak coating. The right SS railing, glass railing or MS railing for a Gurugram balcony is the one whose material suits where it sits. Society rules, height and fixing

Apartment societies

In most Gurgaon apartment towers the balcony railing is part of the building's elevation. Changing its material or design usually needs the society or maintenance agency's approval, and some societies only allow a like-for-like replacement or a specific approved design. Glass is often allowed when it sits inside the existing railing line, but not always. Get the rule in writing before you choose.

Height and gaps

A balcony railing has to stop a fall, so height and gaps matter more than looks. Higher floors generally call for a taller railing, and vertical gaps should be small enough that a child cannot get through or climb. Horizontal bars look modern but can act as a ladder for small children, which is worth weighing in a family home. Your building's rules and the existing parapet height set the starting point.

Fixing

Railings are fixed either on top of the floor or parapet, or into the side of the slab edge. Side fixing keeps the floor clear and water-tight but needs a sound slab edge; top fixing is simpler but each anchor point needs sealing so rain does not seep into the slab. Staircase railings inside the house

Internal stairs are a different job from a balcony. The railing follows the slope and turns of the stair, so each section is measured on site and the handrail is shaped to the landings. Stainless steel with glass infill is popular in duplexes and villas because it keeps a stairwell bright; a simple SS handrail with round balusters suits a narrow stair in a builder floor. Since there is no rain indoors, SS202 can be acceptable here, which brings the cost down, but SS304 still keeps its finish better where hands touch it every day.

Looking after a railing through the Gurgaon year

• Before the monsoon: check MS railings for chipped paint at the base and touch up; clear any water pooling at post bases.
• After dust storms: wash SS and glass with plain water first, then a mild cleaner; dry-wiping dust scratches the finish.
• Every year: push firmly on each post and check the anchors. Movement is the early warning.
• Glass: check the rubber gaskets or silicone in the channel; replace any that have hardened or cracked in the heat.

What changes the price of a railing?

• Material and grade: SS304 costs more than SS202; glass costs more than either.
• Height and design: more rails, balusters or thicker glass add material.
• Fixing method: side fixing and glass floor channels take more work than top-mounted posts.
• Length and corners: every corner and end adds posts and joints.
• Access: high balconies with no safe external access need careful planning.

4. 50% advance starts fabrication; glass panels, if any, are made to size.
