Bathroom Glass Upgrades in Sectors 31 & 32, Gurgaon

Sector 31 is a settled HUDA plotted sector with its own market, bordered by Sector 15, Sector 32 and Sector 40, and Sector 32 next to it mixes houses, flats and villas and is often listed with the Sohna Road belt. Neither has a metro station, and the roads around the Medanta approach and Sohna Road are slow at peak. The houses are mostly a generation old, which is exactly why bathroom glass in Sectors 31 and 32, Gurgaon, is usually an upgrade, not a first fit-out: the bathrooms were built for a curtain or a bucket, and owners renovating them now want a proper wet and dry split.

What people are replacing, and with what

All of these are 10mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass with SS304 fittings and a 1 year functional warranty on hardware. To get a feel for the money, a fixed panel 3 ft wide and 7 ft high is 21 sq ft, which at the starting rate is about ₹7,770. Older bathrooms need more checking

A renovation bathroom brings problems a new one does not. These are the things we look at during the visit, because they decide whether frameless glass will sit right:

• Walls out of plumb. Older plaster is rarely straight. Frameless glass is made to exact sizes, so a leaning wall changes the measurement, or calls for a profile to take up the gap.
• No floor slope towards the drain. If water does not run away from the glass, a seal strip will not stop it. A small threshold or re-sloped tiles may be needed first. See shower door leaking.
• Concealed pipes in the wall. Glass clamps are drilled into the wall, so we check where the old plumbing runs.

Already have glass that is misbehaving?

Some houses here put in glass ten or fifteen years ago, and it is the fittings that wear first. A door that drops and drags, a hinge that will not turn, or a seal strip that has gone hard are repairs, not replacements. While the bathroom is open

Renovations rarely stop at the shower.
