Shower partition repair · Gurgaon & Noida
Shower glass door leaking water outside
Water escaping a glass shower door usually gets out under the door, where the PVC sweep seal has worn or gone missing, or down the vertical gaps at the hinge and closing edge. New seals and a drip profile fix most leaks; if the floor slopes towards the door, that needs addressing too.

A glass shower partition should keep the rest of the bathroom dry. When a puddle forms outside the door after every shower, the culprit in most Gurugram and Noida bathrooms is not the glass, which is watertight, but the gaps around the door: under it, beside its hinges, and where it meets the fixed panel.
Where the water is getting out
Stand outside after a shower and see where the wet patch starts. That points straight at the cause.
Under the door (most common)
A hinged frameless door has a gap of a few millimetres at the floor so it can swing. A soft PVC sweep seal or wiper is clipped onto the bottom edge to close it. These seals split, harden and tear within a few years, and many get pulled off when the floor is cleaned. Water then runs straight out under the door.
Down the closing edge
Where the door meets the fixed glass or the wall, a vertical magnetic seal or a soft PVC seal closes the gap. If it's missing, worn or the door has sagged out of line, spray escapes along the full height of the door.
At the hinge side
Wall-to-glass or glass-to-glass hinges leave a gap along the hinged edge. A soft seal here is often left out on cheaper installs.
Through failed silicone
The fixed panel is sealed to the wall and floor with silicone. Once it peels or goes mouldy and cracks, water tracks underneath and can appear outside the shower area, sometimes in the next room's skirting.
The floor slopes the wrong way
If the bathroom floor wasn't sloped towards the shower drain, or the drain is slow, water pools against the door and no seal will hold it back for long.
| Where the wet patch starts | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Right under the door | Bottom sweep seal worn or missing | New sweep seal, add drip profile |
| Along the edge where the door closes | Magnetic or side seal worn, door out of line | New seal; re-align or replace hinges |
| Beside the hinges | No seal on the hinged edge | Fit a side seal |
| At the base of the fixed panel or the wall | Silicone failed | Cut out and re-silicone |
| Water pools against the door | Floor slope or slow drain | Clear drain; consider a threshold |
What you can safely check
- Look at the bottom of the door: is the clear seal there, intact and touching the floor?
- Close the door and look for daylight along the closing edge.
- Check the silicone lines at the floor and wall for gaps, peeling or black mould.
- Pour a mug of water near the drain and see if it runs to it or towards the door.
What the repair involves, and how it's quoted
Most shower leaks are fixed with new seals sized to the glass thickness (usually 8mm or 10mm on frameless partitions): a bottom sweep, a magnetic or side seal on the closing edge, and, where water still escapes, a slim drip profile that deflects water back inside. Failed silicone is cut out, the joint cleaned and dried, and re-sealed with a sanitary-grade silicone. If the door has sagged so seals no longer meet, the hinges are re-set or replaced through a bathroom glass door hinge replacement.
Repairs don't need a paid site visit. Send photos of the bottom of the door, the closing edge and the hinges, and a short video of the door closing, on WhatsApp. Repairs have no fixed rate, so the quote depends on what seals and hardware are needed.
Stopping it coming back
- Don't drag a floor wiper across the door's bottom seal.
- Point the shower head away from the door, not at it.
- Squeegee the glass and floor after use so water doesn't sit at the seals.
- If you're redoing the bathroom, a frameless sliding shower partition or an inward-opening door layout can help in tight spaces.

Common questions
Why is my shower glass door leaking water outside?
Usually through the gap under the door, where the PVC sweep seal has worn out or come off. The next most common route is the vertical gap where the door closes, if its seal is missing or the door has sagged. Failed silicone and a badly sloped floor are less common causes.
How do I stop water coming out from under my shower door?
Fit a new bottom sweep seal sized to the glass thickness, and if water still escapes, add a drip profile that deflects it back inside. Also check the floor slopes towards the drain. If the door has dropped, re-setting the hinges lets the seal sit properly again.
Shower ka paani bahar aa raha hai, kya seal change karne se theek ho jayega?
Most of the time, yes. A worn bottom seal is the usual reason water comes out. If a seal is already fitted and it still leaks, the door may have sagged or the floor may slope towards the door, which needs a look at photos first.
Can you fix a shower leak without replacing the glass?
Yes, nearly always. The glass itself doesn't leak. Leaks come from worn sweep and magnetic seals, failed silicone and hinge alignment, which can all be replaced or re-set with the glass left in place. The glass is only replaced if it is chipped or cracked, since toughened glass can't be re-worked.
Do I need to book a site visit for a leaking shower door?
No. Repairs are quoted from photos and videos on WhatsApp, without the paid visit that new installations need. Send a photo of the bottom of the door, the closing edge and the hinges, plus a short clip of the door closing, and we'll tell you which seals or hardware it needs.
