Sliding shower glass partitions

The same wall-to-wall frameless glass, with a top-hung sliding door in place of a hinged one. Nothing projects into the room as the door opens, which makes it the correct specification for compact bathrooms and for layouts where a swing door would foul the basin or WC.

A frameless sliding shower partition runs 10mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass from wall to wall, with a door that glides along a rail instead of swinging out. It is the answer for narrow Gurugram and Noida bathrooms where a hinged door would hit the WC, the basin or the person using them. Fittings are SS304 anti-rust and aluminium, with a 1 year functional warranty on the hardware. The rate starts at ₹550 per sq ft of glass, confirmed after a ₹99 site visit.

Choose a slider when the door has nowhere to swing

Measure from the shower line to the nearest fixture. If a hinged door would sweep across the WC, catch the basin or block the bathroom door, a slider is the practical choice. It is common in the compact second and third bathrooms of apartment towers, where the room is often barely wider than a person and a half.

A slider costs a little more than the hinged frameless shower partition with door, at ₹550 per sq ft against ₹500 per sq ft, because of the rail, rollers and guides. Where swing room exists, the hinged door is simpler and has fewer parts to maintain.

One thing a slider cannot do is give a full-width opening. The sliding leaf parks in front of the fixed panel, so the walk-through gap is usually a little under half the total width. In a very narrow bathroom that needs checking at the visit. If your shower is in a corner instead, look at the L-shaped corner enclosure with sliding door. All layouts are in the shower cubicles catalogue.

The rail, the rollers and the glass

Both panels are 10mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass. The fixed panel is held to the wall and floor; the sliding leaf hangs from rollers that run on an overhead rail, with a small guide at the floor to stop it swinging. That is why this style's fittings are listed as SS304 anti-rust and aluminium: the rail is aluminium, the clamps and rollers' fixings stainless.

Because the leaf hangs from above, the bottom of the glass sits clear of the floor, which keeps it from scraping on uneven tiles. Water is held back by a seal along the bottom edge, a soft seal where the leaf meets the wall, and the overlap between the sliding and fixed panels. Neutral-cure silicone seals the fixed edges.

Handles on a slider are usually flush or small knobs, so the leaf can pass the fixed panel without catching. Soft-close stops at either end are a common option and are discussed at the visit.

The hardware carries a 1 year functional warranty. As always, it covers fittings, not glass.

Sliding partition prices for three bathroom sizes

Sliders are priced per sq ft of glass, both panels counted, from ₹550 per sq ft:

Compact bathroom, 4 ft wide × 7 ft high (28 sq ft): ₹15,400

Mid-size bathroom, 6 ft × 6.5 ft (39 sq ft): ₹21,450

Full-width master, 6 ft × 7 ft (42 sq ft): ₹23,100

A slider is never narrower than about twice the opening you want, because the leaf has to overlap the fixed panel. That is why very narrow showers sometimes cost more in glass than people expect for the walk-in gap they get.

Other things that move the figure: frosted or fluted glass, soft-close stops, a ceiling-height rail instead of a standard height, and the condition of the walls the rail fixes into. The shower cubicle cost guide for Gurgaon sets these against the other layouts, and the frameless glass partition price guide explains how frameless work is measured.

Measuring and fitting a sliding partition

A slider is less forgiving of an out-of-square bathroom than a hinged door, because the rail has to be straight and level for the leaf to roll without drifting open or shut. At the ₹99 site visit, usually within 24–48 hours, the team measures the wall-to-wall width at several heights, checks both walls for plumb and the floor for level along the glass line, and confirms which side the door should open from.

The quotation is aimed at within about 2 hours of the visit and is valid for 3 days. Production starts once the 50% advance is paid; toughened glass generally takes 7–10 days. On installation day the fixed panel goes in first, then the rail, then the leaf, which is adjusted until it runs evenly and stops cleanly at both ends. The balance is paid on completion.

New societies along the Noida Expressway and in Noida Extension have many compact bathrooms where a slider is the natural fit; the shower cubicles in Noida page covers the city in more detail.

Keeping a slider running smoothly

A sliding door stays smooth if the rail stays clean. Wipe the top rail and the floor guide every week or two, because soap residue and hard-water scale collect there and make the rollers drag. Never oil the rollers; oil collects grit. A damp cloth is enough.

The glass needs the same care as any shower glass in Gurugram's hard water: a squeegee after use and a mild limescale cleaner weekly. Shower glass hard water stains explains what to use and what to avoid on stubborn film.

If water starts escaping where the leaf meets the wall, check that the soft seal is still in place; a worn seal is the usual cause, as set out in shower door leaking. If the leaf starts to stick or jump, a roller has usually worked loose or a guide has shifted; inside the 1 year functional warranty, report it rather than forcing it. Common questions

What is the price of a sliding shower partition in Gurgaon?

Our frameless sliding shower partition starts at ₹550 per sq ft of glass, both panels counted. A 6 ft × 6.5 ft partition, 39 sq ft, works out to ₹21,450 at that rate. Frosting, soft-close stops and rail height can change the final figure, which comes in an all-inclusive written quote after the ₹99 site visit.

Sliding or hinged shower door: which is better for a small bathroom?

If a hinged door would hit the WC, the basin or the bathroom door, choose sliding. It needs no swing room at all. If the door can swing freely, a hinged door is simpler, gives a wider opening and costs a little less, at ₹500 per sq ft against ₹550 per sq ft for the slider.

How wide is the opening on a sliding shower partition?

Usually a little under half the total width, because the sliding leaf parks in front of the fixed panel and the two have to overlap. A 5 ft partition typically gives an entry of around 2 ft or slightly more. In a very narrow bathroom, check the entry width at the visit before choosing a slider.

Do sliding shower doors need maintenance?

A little. Wipe the top rail and floor guide every week or two so soap and hard-water scale do not build up under the rollers, and squeegee the glass after use. Do not oil the rollers. The hardware carries a 1 year functional warranty, which covers fittings, not the glass.

Chhote bathroom mein sliding glass door lag sakta hai?

Yes, that is exactly where it is used most. A slider needs no swing space, so it fits bathrooms where a hinged door would hit the WC or basin. The visit, usually within 24–48 hours of booking, checks that the walls are straight enough for the rail and that the entry width will be comfortable.
