Corner bathroom glass enclosures

A frameless bathroom glass enclosure returning around two sides of a corner shower, with a hinged door on one face. The panels meet at the corner without an intermediate post, so the run reads as a single sheet of glass. Specified where the shower sits in a corner rather than against one wall. Note that two glazed sides carry considerably more glass than the floor area suggests.

An L-shaped frameless shower enclosure boxes a corner shower with two panels of 10mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass meeting at a clean joint, and a hinged glass door in the front run. It suits bathrooms where the shower sits in a corner rather than across the full width, and it keeps the rest of the room dry on two sides. Fittings are SS304 anti-rust with a 1 year functional warranty on hardware, and the rate starts at ₹500 per sq ft of glass.

When a corner enclosure beats a straight partition

A straight frameless shower partition with door needs the shower to span the bathroom wall to wall. Many bathrooms are not laid out that way. In larger master bathrooms in Gurugram's newer societies, the shower often sits in one corner with the WC beside it and the basin opposite, and a single straight glass line would cut the room awkwardly. Two short glass sides meeting in an L enclose just the shower and leave the rest of the floor open.

The corner enclosure is also the better choice when the shower has only one wall to fix against on each side, for example where a window or a niche sits on the long wall.

The hinged door usually goes in the longer of the two sides. If there is no room for it to swing past the WC or a vanity, the L-shaped enclosure with sliding door solves it. For a black framed look in the same shape, see the slim-profile corner enclosure. The whole range is in the shower cubicles catalogue.

How the two sides join and what holds them up

Both sides and the door are 10mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass on SS304 anti-rust fittings. The corner is where frameless enclosures differ most. The two panels are usually joined with a glass-to-glass clamp or a 90-degree connector at the top and bottom, with clear silicone along the vertical joint. No post or frame is needed, so the corner reads as a single fold of glass.

Without a frame, an L shape relies on its fixings for rigidity. A support bar from the top of the corner back to a wall is common, especially where a panel is long or the door is heavy. The door hangs on glass-to-glass hinges off the fixed panel, or glass-to-wall hinges off the tiled wall, depending on where the opening falls.

Two things the visit checks closely: that the two walls meet at a true right angle (bathroom corners often do not), and that the floor slopes toward the drain inside the enclosure. Hinges and clamps on this enclosure carry a 1 year functional warranty, which applies to the fittings and not to the glass.

Pricing an L-shaped enclosure: add both sides

An L enclosure is priced on the glass in both sides plus the door, from ₹500 per sq ft. Add the two widths and multiply by the height:

Compact corner, 3 ft + 3 ft × 6.5 ft (39 sq ft): ₹19,500

Standard corner, 3.5 ft + 3.5 ft × 7 ft (49 sq ft): ₹24,500

Generous corner, 4 ft + 4 ft × 7 ft (56 sq ft): ₹28,000

Because there are two sides, an L enclosure always uses more glass than a straight partition across the same shower, which is the main reason it costs more in total even though the rate is the same as the straight style.

What else moves the quote: a support bar, frosted or fluted glass, a non-square corner that needs one panel cut at an angle, and an off-standard height. The shower cubicle cost guide for Gurgaon lays the corner layouts alongside the straight ones.

The job, step by step

It starts with the ₹99 site visit, usually arranged within 24–48 hours. The team measures both walls from the corner at several heights, checks the angle of the corner, notes taps, niches and the drain position, and agrees where the door sits and which way it opens. The visit fee is adjusted against your bill if you proceed.

You receive an all-inclusive quotation, aimed at within about 2 hours of the visit, valid for 3 days. With the 50% advance paid, the glass is cut, drilled for hinges and toughened, which generally takes 7–10 days. On installation day the fixed panels go in, the corner is clamped and sealed, the door is hung and adjusted, and the silicone is left to cure before the shower is used. The remaining 50% is due once the work is complete.

Newer high-rise societies along the Dwarka Expressway and Golf Course Extension Road often have exactly this corner-shower plan. The bathroom glass partition price guide for Gurugram explains how these jobs are priced locally.

Care for the corner joint and the door

The silicone along the corner joint is the part most worth watching. Keep it clean with a soft brush and mild cleaner so mould does not take hold, and never pick at it. If it lifts or blackens after a few years, resealing is a small job.

The glass needs a squeegee after every shower; hard groundwater across Gurugram and Noida leaves a white film quickly otherwise. Shower glass hard water stains covers safe ways to remove build-up without damaging the glass or the hinges.

A corner enclosure's door is usually the heaviest moving part in the bathroom. If it starts to drop at the handle side, see shower door sagging; if it gets stiff or will not stay where you leave it, see shower door hinge stuck. Report either inside the 1 year functional warranty. After that, a worn hinge is quoted from photos through bathroom glass door hinge replacement.

Common questions

How much does a corner shower enclosure cost in Gurgaon?

Our L-shaped frameless enclosure with a hinged door starts at ₹500 per sq ft of glass, counting both sides and the door. A standard 3.5 ft + 3.5 ft corner, 7 ft high, is 49 sq ft and works out to ₹24,500 at that rate. The final figure follows the ₹99 site visit in an all-inclusive written quote.

Is an L-shaped shower enclosure better than a straight partition?

It depends on where the shower sits. If it spans the bathroom wall to wall, a straight partition is simpler and uses less glass. If the shower is in a corner with other fixtures beside it, an L enclosure boxes just the shower and keeps the rest of the room open. The visit will tell you which fits.

What if my bathroom corner is not a perfect right angle?

Many are not. The team measures the angle at the visit, and the glass is made to suit, since toughened glass cannot be trimmed later. Small variations are absorbed in the corner joint and silicone; larger ones may need one panel cut slightly off-square, which is decided before production.

Does a frameless corner enclosure need a support bar?

Often, yes. With no frame, the corner depends on its fixings, and a bar from the top of the enclosure to the wall adds rigidity, especially on longer panels or a heavy door. Whether your layout needs one is decided at the visit and written into the quote.

How long does a corner shower enclosure take to install?

Allow 24–48 hours for the visit, about 2 hours more for the quote, and then generally 7–10 days for the three toughened panels to be produced after your 50% advance. Fitting a corner takes longer than a straight run, and the shower stays off afterwards while the silicone cures.
