What is wrong, and which repair fixes it?

Why Gurgaon glass doors fail the way they do

• Fine dust. Gurgaon's dust, especially through the dry months and the May–June dust storms, gets into floor spring housings at entrance doors. Shopfronts on MG Road and in old Gurgaon markets see this badly because the door opens straight onto the street.
• Heavy traffic. Office doors in DLF Cyber City and Udyog Vihar can open hundreds of times a day. A spring sized for a lighter door, or one never serviced, wears out first.

How long does a glass repair take?

Fitting repairs, such as a floor spring, hinge or lock, can usually be done in one trip once the part is confirmed. Glass replacement takes longer: toughened glass cannot be cut after it is tempered, so the new panel is made to size, which generally takes around 7–10 days. In the meantime, a broken shopfront can be boarded or the opening secured; tell us if you need that. For new work, the payment terms are 50% advance and 50% on completion.

Repair it, or replace the whole door?

Most glass doors in Gurgaon are worth repairing. The glass in a 12mm office door or a 10mm shower door does not wear out; the moving parts do. Replacement starts to make sense in a few situations:

A chipped edge on toughened glass is worth taking seriously. Tempered glass carries its strength in the surface and edges, and a chip there can lead to the whole panel breaking later, sometimes without an obvious knock. If a photo shows edge damage, we will say so.

Repairs are short jobs, but buildings still have rules. Office towers usually ask for the repair to be logged with the facility desk and for work after hours if the door is a main entrance. Residential societies on Golf Course Extension Road and elsewhere generally ask that the technician be registered at the gate. If the glass is large, check that it can come up in the lift; a replacement panel has to arrive in one piece.
