Common questions
What is a door machine on a glass door?
It is the floor machine, or floor spring — the closer set into the floor beneath a frameless glass door. It carries the weight of the leaf and controls how the door swings back and seats. When a glass door drags, slams or stops closing flush, this is the usual cause rather than the glass.
Do I need a site visit to get a door machine replaced?
No. Send a photo of the door and the floor at the pivot, plus a short description of what it is doing, on WhatsApp. That is normally enough for us to tell you what is involved.
Can the machine be replaced without replacing the glass?
Usually yes. The floor machine is hardware fitted under the door rather than part of the pane, so in most cases the existing glass leaf is refitted onto the new machine. If the glass itself is damaged we will say so from the photo.
Is a replacement door machine under warranty?
On new office glass work we provide a 2 year functional warranty on the floor machine. On a repair or a replacement, warranty is on the fittings as applicable to that project, and we will confirm what it covers in writing before you proceed.
How quickly can it be done?
Faster than new glass, because nothing has to be made to size — there is no 7 to 10 day production wait as there is for a toughened pane. Send the photos and we will tell you what we can arrange.
