Toughened glass replacement quoted from your photos

Replacement of broken or cracked toughened glass, including common panels used in apartment windows and sliders. The quotation depends on the glass thickness, location and installation complexity. Send photos on WhatsApp for an assessment.

Broken toughened glass replacement means making a new toughened panel to the exact size, thickness and hole positions of the one that failed, and fitting it in the original frame or fittings. It covers apartment window and slider panels, often 5mm, as well as shower and office glass. In Gurugram and Noida, the quote starts with photos on WhatsApp rather than a paid site visit, and the final price depends on the thickness, the panel's location and how complex the installation is.

Why toughened glass is replaced, never repaired

Toughened glass is ordinary glass that has been heated and rapidly cooled, which leaves the surface under compression and makes it several times stronger. The same process means that when it does fail, the whole panel releases at once and breaks into small blunt pieces. There is nothing left to patch.

It also means a new panel cannot be cut from stock on site. Toughened glass has to be cut, edged and drilled first and toughened afterwards, so every replacement is made to order, to the size and hole positions of the original.

Sometimes a panel cracks without falling out, showing a web of small cracks while still in its frame. Treat it as broken: it can drop out without warning. Tape over it, keep people away and see toughened glass shattered for what to do first. If the broken glass is not toughened at all (long sharp shards rather than small pieces), it is ordinary float glass and belongs under plain glass replacement; a single cracked window glass is often that case.

What to send on WhatsApp for a quote

A good set of photos replaces the visit. Send:

The whole panel, or the opening where it was, with something for scale if possible.

Close-ups of the fittings: clamps, hinges, patch fittings, a window frame or sliding track. These show how the panel was held and what holes it had.

The glass stamp, if a corner of the old panel is still in the frame. Toughened glass usually carries a small etched mark that helps confirm the type.

Measurements, if you have them: width, height, and the thickness of a broken piece measured with a ruler.

Where it is: which floor, whether the panel is reachable from inside, and whether it is a window in a high-rise or a door at ground level.

From that, the team works out the likely thickness, whether the old fittings can be reused, and what the installation involves. The size, thickness, access and fittings are confirmed before the final quotation, because a toughened panel made to the wrong size cannot be corrected afterwards.

What decides the price of a replacement panel

There is no single rate for this work, because two panels of the same size can be very different jobs. The quotation is built from three things.

Thickness and type. Apartment windows and sliders commonly use 5mm toughened glass; shower partitions usually 10mm; office partitions and shop doors usually 12mm. Thicker glass costs more and weighs more. Frosted, tinted or reflective glass costs more than clear.

Location and access. A ground-floor shop door is straightforward. A window on the 14th floor of a society tower that can only be reached from inside, or an office panel above a false ceiling, takes more time and more people.

Installation complexity. A panel dropped into an existing sliding sash is quicker than one held by clamps that have bent in the failure, or a door panel that needs its patch fittings replaced too.

How the replacement runs

Once the photos are reviewed and the quotation agreed, the job follows a set order. The team confirms the final dimensions and hole positions, either from the old fittings in place or from a quick check on site where the photos leave doubt, because a made-to-order toughened panel cannot be trimmed later.

The new panel then goes into production. Toughened glass generally takes 7–10 days, so in the meantime the opening should be made safe: remaining fragments cleared, sharp edges taped, and a temporary board or sheet fixed over an exposed window if rain or security is a concern.

On installation day, any remaining fragments are removed from the frame or fittings, the fixings are inspected and cleaned, damaged fittings are swapped if that was agreed, and the new panel is set and sealed.

Society towers in Gurugram and Noida usually ask for contractor entry to be registered at the gate, and some restrict glass carried in passenger lifts. Mention the society's rules when you send the photos. Local details are on glass repairs in Noida and glass repairs in Gurgaon.

Why toughened glass breaks, and how to avoid it next time

Toughened glass is strong across its face but vulnerable at its edges and corners. Most breakages start there: a door swung into a wall, a chipped edge rubbing on a hinge, a fixing over-tightened directly against glass, or a hard object knocking a sliding panel's corner.

A smaller number happen with no obvious cause. These are usually traced to a tiny inclusion in the glass or an edge chip from years earlier that finally gives way under heat or pressure. That is part of why our warranties cover fittings, not glass.

To reduce the risk with a replacement: keep doors from swinging into hard surfaces with a stopper, check that clamps have their rubber gaskets, and have chipped edges looked at rather than ignored.

If the break was on a door, it is worth checking whether a worn glass door floor machine let it swing too hard. For more on how repair work runs across the city, read glass door and partition repair in Gurugram. The full range of repair services is in the glass repairs catalogue.

Common questions

How much does it cost to replace broken toughened glass in Gurgaon?

It depends on the thickness, the location of the panel and how complex the installation is. A 5mm window panel reachable from inside is a very different job from a 12mm office door with damaged fittings. Send photos and any measurements on WhatsApp, and the team will confirm the details and give you a quotation.

Can cracked toughened glass be repaired?

No. Toughened glass is stressed during manufacture, so once it cracks the whole panel has failed and can drop out at any time. It has to be replaced with a new panel made to size. Until then, tape over it and keep people clear of it.

How long does it take to replace a toughened glass panel?

The new panel has to be made to order, and toughened glass production generally takes 7–10 days. The dimensions and fittings are confirmed before the glass is ordered. In the meantime, make the opening safe by clearing fragments and covering it if needed.

Do I need a site visit to get a glass replacement quote?

No paid site visit is needed for a repair. Photos of the panel, its fittings and any stamp on the glass, sent on WhatsApp with rough measurements and the location, are usually enough to prepare a quotation. Where photos leave doubt about size or holes, the team confirms them before ordering.

Balcony ka sliding glass toot gaya hai, naya lag jayega?

Yes. Apartment sliders commonly use 5mm toughened glass, and a new panel is made to the size of the old one and fitted into the existing frame. Send photos of the slider, the frame and the broken panel on WhatsApp, along with the floor and society name, and the team will quote.
