Plain glass replacement quoted from your requirement
Replacement of cracked or broken plain glass, quoted according to the glass type, location and installation complexity. Send photos and details on WhatsApp so we can identify the panel and confirm the practical way to replace it.
Plain glass replacement covers cracked or broken ordinary (non-toughened) glass: window panes in wooden, aluminium and iron frames, cabinet and showcase doors, ventilators and fixed panels. Plain glass comes in many types and thicknesses, so there is no single rate to publish. Send photos, the location and any measurements on WhatsApp, and FabWise quotes the replacement across Gurugram and Noida according to the glass type, where the panel is and how complex the installation will be.
Plain glass or toughened: which do you have?
The first job is to know what broke. Look at the pieces.
Long, sharp shards or a single crack line mean ordinary plain (float) glass. It is common in older windows, ventilators, cupboard doors, showcases and picture-frame style panels. This page is for that.
Thousands of small, blunt cubes mean toughened glass, which is made to order and cannot be cut on site. That is a different job: broken toughened glass replacement.
A crack that runs across a window from one edge, especially in winter or on a sunny wall, is usually a thermal or stress crack in plain glass; cracked window glass explains the causes.
Some replacements are also a chance to upgrade. Plain glass is fine in a high window or a cabinet, but in a door, a low panel near the floor, or anywhere in a bathroom, toughened glass is the safer choice. And if the whole window frame is failing, not just the glass, replacing it with an aluminium sliding window or a uPVC window may make more sense than reglazing.
What the quote is based on, and what to send
Three things set the price of a plain glass replacement.
Glass type and thickness. Clear float glass is the simplest. Frosted, tinted, reflective, patterned and wired glass each cost more and some are matched from limited stock. Thickness in homes is commonly 4mm to 6mm for windows.
Location. A cabinet door on the ground floor is easy. A window on an upper floor that can only be reached from inside, or a high ventilator above a staircase, needs more time and care.
Installation complexity. Glass held with beads in an aluminium frame comes out cleanly. Old putty in a wooden or iron frame has to be chipped out and the rebate cleaned before new glass can go in.
To get a quotation, send on WhatsApp: a photo of the whole window or door, a close-up of how the glass is held at the edge, the width and height of the glass if you can measure it, a ruler against a broken piece for thickness, and the floor and locality. If the old glass is frosted or patterned, a close photo helps match it.
How a plain glass job runs
Once the photos are reviewed and the quotation agreed, the team confirms the exact size of the opening. Plain glass is cut to fit, so the measurement taken from the actual frame is what counts, and any doubt from the photos is cleared before cutting.
Because plain glass needs no toughening, there is no 7–10 day production wait of the kind toughened panels need; the timing mainly depends on matching the glass type and arranging the installation, and the team confirms it with you.
On the day, the remaining broken glass is removed carefully, the frame rebate is cleaned of old putty or worn beading, and the new pane is set in. Aluminium frames usually take new gaskets or beading; wooden and iron frames are commonly re-puttied or sealed with silicone, depending on what was there before.
Until the replacement, keep the area safe: lift out loose pieces with gloves, tape over cracks so they do not spread, and cover an open window with board or plastic if rain or security is a worry. Detail on both cities is at glass repairs in Gurgaon and glass repairs in Noida.
When a replaced pane is not the whole fix
Sometimes the glass broke because of a problem the new pane will not solve.
A sliding window that has to be forced along a worn track puts stress on its glass every time it moves. If that is how yours broke, see sliding window hard to slide before refitting.
A window that leaks in the monsoon, or rattles and lets in dust, usually has failed seals or gaskets rather than bad glass; window leaking rain water and window gap, dust and noise explain what is going on. New glass in the old seals will leak the same way.
If the frame itself is rotten, rusted or bent, reglazing it buys only time. The uPVC window price guide gives a sense of what a full replacement involves, and the team can advise from your photos which route makes sense.
Older independent houses in Old Gurgaon and Palam Vihar commonly have putty-glazed wooden and iron windows where these questions come up.

Common questions
How much does window glass replacement cost in Gurgaon?
It depends on the glass type and thickness, where the window is, and how the glass is held in the frame. Clear glass in an aluminium frame on a low floor is the simplest case; frosted or patterned glass in an old putty-glazed frame high up takes more. Send photos and measurements on WhatsApp for a quotation.
Can plain glass be cut to size on the same day?
Plain glass does not need toughening, so it avoids the 7–10 day production time that toughened panels need. How quickly it can be fitted depends on matching the glass type and arranging the installation, and the team confirms the timing after reviewing your photos.
Should I replace broken plain glass with toughened glass?
In doors, low panels near the floor and bathrooms, yes: toughened glass is far stronger and breaks into small blunt pieces. In high windows, ventilators and cabinet doors, plain glass is usually fine. Toughened glass must be made to order, so it takes longer.
Do I need a site visit for a plain glass replacement?
No paid site visit is needed for repairs. Photos of the window or door, a close-up of how the glass is held, rough measurements and the location, sent on WhatsApp, are usually enough for a quotation. The exact size is confirmed from the frame before cutting.
Purani khidki ka kaanch toot gaya, sirf glass badal sakte ho?
Yes, if the frame is still sound. The broken glass is removed, the old putty or beading cleaned out, and a new pane of matching glass set in. If the frame is rotten or rusted, the team will say so from your photos, because new glass in a failing frame does not last.
