uPVC sliding and casement windows for noise and dust
A uPVC window is a frame of unplasticised PVC multi-chamber profile, reinforced with galvanised steel inside, glazed with single glass or a double glazed unit and sealed with EPDM gaskets. Casement shutters close onto compression seals and give the tightest seal against dust, heat and road noise; sliding shutters save space but seal less tightly. The material does not rust, rot or need painting, and its chambers insulate better than solid metal. Specified for bedrooms on expressways and arterial roads, air-conditioned rooms and dusty sites. Profile wall thickness and steel reinforcement decide how stiff the frame stays in a Delhi summer. Measured on site and installed by one team.
If the traffic on the road outside your bedroom wakes you up, or a fine layer of dust settles on the sill every day, uPVC windows are usually the answer. Their multi-chamber frames and compression seals shut out noise, dust and heat better than a standard sliding window. We fit uPVC sliding and casement windows across Gurugram and Noida, measured to each opening, with the glass chosen for the noise you actually live with.
What makes a uPVC window seal better
uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is a rigid plastic extruded into multi-chamber profiles. The hollow chambers inside the frame trap air, which slows heat and sound passing through the frame itself. Inside the main chambers sits galvanised steel reinforcement, which keeps longer frames straight in the heat of a Delhi summer; a uPVC window without enough reinforcement can bow and lose its seal.
The bigger difference is how the shutter closes. A casement (hinged) shutter is pulled tight against continuous EPDM gaskets by multi-point locking hardware, so there is effectively no gap. A sliding uPVC window seals better than a basic aluminium slider because of its deeper profiles and brush or fin seals, but it can never press shut like a casement.
Other types include tilt-and-turn (opens inward on a side hinge, or tilts from the top for ventilation), fixed lights next to opening shutters, and top-hung ventilators for bathrooms.
Profiles are typically white, with laminated wood-grain or coloured foils available on most systems.
Single glass or double glazing for road noise?
Glass carries most of a window's area, so it does most of the work against noise and heat.
Single glazing (one pane, often 5mm to 6mm, or toughened) is fine for quiet rooms and keeps cost down.
A double glazed unit (DGU) is two panes separated by a sealed spacer and air or gas gap, for example a 5mm + 12mm + 5mm build. It cuts heat gain and cold, reduces condensation, and lowers road noise noticeably.
For serious traffic noise, a DGU with panes of different thickness, or with one laminated pane, works better than two equal panes, because each pane blocks a different range of sound. We suggest this for bedrooms facing the Dwarka Expressway, NH-48, Golf Course Extension Road, the Noida Expressway or the metro line.
No window makes a room silent; the seal, the glass and the gap between the frame and the wall all have to be right. Our guide to uPVC vs aluminium windows sets out where each frame material earns its cost.
Where uPVC suits best, and where it does not
uPVC is a strong choice in high-rise flats along the expressways, where both noise and wind are high; in air-conditioned bedrooms and studies, where the insulation saves running cost; and in older builder floors in Old Gurgaon, Sushant Lok or Noida's sector housing where dust gets through tired steel frames.
It is less suited to very large openings, where aluminium's stiffness allows slimmer frames, and to windows in direct sun on a dark foil, which can heat up and move. Very wide sliding doors are generally better in a heavy aluminium or uPVC system designed for doors; see aluminium or uPVC sliding doors.
In a society, changing window frames on an exterior face often needs maintenance-office or RWA approval, sometimes with a prescribed colour. White uPVC usually clears this easily, but check before ordering. If your current windows let in dust or water, the causes are explained on window gap, dust and noise and window leaking rain water.
What decides the price of uPVC windows
uPVC windows are quoted after measuring. The uPVC window price guide explains the factors in more depth.
Profile system and wall thickness. Better systems use thicker walls and more chambers.
Reinforcement. Heavier galvanised steel for larger shutters.
Opening type. Casement and tilt-and-turn hardware costs more than a sliding mechanism.
Glass. Single pane, toughened, DGU, or an acoustic DGU with laminated glass.
Colour. Laminated wood-grain or coloured foils cost more than white.
Mesh. A sliding mesh track or an integrated pleated mesh.
Removal and making good. Taking out old frames and repairing plaster.
The written quote lists every window with its size and specification, so a living room can be given an acoustic unit and a store room plain glass, each priced on its own. That way you spend on performance only where the noise and heat actually are, and the total is clear before any advance is paid.
How the job runs and how to care for uPVC
Book a site visit for ₹99, usually within 24 to 48 hours; it is adjusted against the bill if you go ahead. We measure every opening, check the walls for square and note which rooms face the road. The written, all-inclusive quote usually comes within about two hours and is valid for three days.
A 50% advance starts fabrication: profiles are cut, reinforced, welded at the corners and glazed to size. On site we remove the old frames, fix and pack the new ones, seal the perimeter and adjust the hardware. The remaining 50% is due on completion.
uPVC needs very little care. Wipe the frames with mild soapy water, avoid solvents and abrasive powders, keep the drainage slots clear and oil the casement hinges lightly once a year. Other window and door types are in the windows and doors catalogue, and local notes are on windows and doors in Noida.

Common questions
Are uPVC windows better than aluminium for noise?
Generally yes. Multi-chamber uPVC profiles insulate better than solid aluminium, and uPVC casement shutters close onto compression gaskets for a tighter seal. With a double glazed unit, especially one with a laminated pane, uPVC is a common choice for bedrooms facing expressways. A well-built slim aluminium system can also perform well, at a higher price.
What is the price of uPVC windows in Gurgaon?
It depends on the profile system, reinforcement, opening type, glass (single, DGU or acoustic), colour and whether old frames must be removed. We do not publish a per sq ft rate; we measure each opening and send a written, all-inclusive quote, usually within about two hours of the visit.
Do uPVC windows turn yellow or bend in the heat?
Good uPVC profiles contain UV stabilisers to resist yellowing, and galvanised steel reinforcement inside the chambers keeps frames straight in summer heat. Problems usually come from thin profiles with little or no reinforcement. Dark foils in direct sun get hotter, so we discuss colour and orientation at the visit.
Should I choose sliding or casement uPVC windows?
Casement windows seal tightest and suit bedrooms where noise and dust matter. Sliding windows save space and suit balconies, kitchens and windows behind furniture or grills. Many homes mix the two: casement in bedrooms, sliding where a shutter swinging out would hit a grill.
uPVC window lagwane ke liye society se permission chahiye kya?
Often yes, in group housing societies. Changing frames on the outside face of the building can need maintenance-office or RWA approval, and some societies fix the colour. White uPVC usually clears easily. Check before ordering, because frames are made to your openings and cannot be returned.
How long does uPVC window installation take?
Fabrication after the advance usually takes about one to two weeks depending on the number of windows and the glass; double glazed units add time. On site, a typical window is replaced in a few hours, so a whole flat is usually done in one to three days.
