Mosquito mesh fitted to existing windows and doors

Mosquito mesh is an insect screen fitted to an existing window or door opening, in one of five forms: a sliding shutter on a dedicated track, a pleated mesh that folds into a slim side cassette, a fixed framed panel, a roller screen that retracts into a head box, or a magnetic or velcro-fixed panel. Mesh is fibreglass, polyester or stainless steel, in grey or black for visibility. Specified for bedrooms, kitchens and balcony doors across apartments and houses, particularly during the monsoon and dengue season. The choice is set by how the window opens: a mesh must not block a casement shutter or a grill. Measured on site and installed by one team.

From the monsoon to early winter, mosquitoes in Gurugram and Noida make an open window a problem, and dengue season makes it a serious one. A good mosquito mesh lets you keep windows and balcony doors open without letting them in. We fit sliding, pleated, fixed, roller and magnetic mesh to the windows and doors you already have, choosing the type that suits how each one opens.

Five kinds of mosquito mesh, and where each fits

Sliding mesh is a framed mesh shutter on its own track, usually the third track of an aluminium or uPVC sliding window. It is robust and cheap to maintain. If your windows are two-track, a separate track can often be added on the inside or outside face.

Pleated mesh folds like an accordion into a slim side cassette and slides across on a low-profile track. It suits balcony doors, French windows and folding doors, because it stays out of sight when not needed and leaves almost no trip hazard.

Fixed mesh is a framed panel screwed or clipped over the opening. It is the simplest option for windows you rarely open or ventilators.

Roller mesh retracts upward into a box at the head of the window, like a blind. It suits casement windows that open inward, where a mesh on the outside does not get in the way.

Magnetic or velcro mesh is a lightweight fabric panel held by magnetic strips. It is an economical, renter-friendly option, though less durable.

At the visit we look at each opening and suggest the type that works with it.

Mesh materials: fibreglass, polyester or stainless steel

The frame holds the mesh, but the mesh itself decides how long it lasts.

Fibreglass mesh (PVC-coated glass fibre) is the most common. It does not rust or dent, and it is reasonably resistant to tearing. Grey or charcoal mesh is easier to see through than white.

Polyester mesh is used in pleated systems because it folds cleanly thousands of times. Good pleated mesh is UV stabilised so it does not go brittle in sun.

Stainless steel (SS) mesh is the toughest option. It resists pets' claws, monkeys and accidental pushes, and suits ground floors and houses near green belts. It costs more and is less flexible.

Frames are usually aluminium, powder coated in white, brown, black or a colour to match the window frame, with brush seals along the edges so mosquitoes cannot get in around the screen.

If an existing mesh is torn or sagging, re-meshing the frame is often possible; see mosquito mesh torn for when that works and when replacement is better.

Fitting mesh around grills, casements and balcony doors

In Delhi NCR most windows have a safety grill, and that decides where the mesh goes.

Where the grill is outside and the window is a slider, the mesh usually runs on a track on the inside face, or as a third track in a replacement frame. Where the window is a casement opening outward, the mesh must go on the inside: a roller or pleated screen that can be pulled aside to open the shutter is the usual answer. Where shutters open inward, a fixed or roller mesh on the outside face works.

Balcony doors in apartments typically get a pleated mesh, since a sliding mesh on its own track would need a wider frame. For a new door, a three-track aluminium or uPVC sliding door can carry the mesh from the start.

Mesh on the inside face rarely needs society approval, since it does not change the building's exterior. If you are replacing windows anyway, see aluminium sliding windows and uPVC windows, both of which can include a mesh track built in.

What decides the price of mosquito mesh

Mesh is priced by type and area, and we quote it after measuring each opening rather than publishing a rate.

Mesh type. Magnetic and fixed mesh are the most economical; sliding mesh is in the middle; pleated and roller systems cost more because of their cassettes and mechanisms.

Mesh material. Fibreglass, pleated polyester or stainless steel.

Size and number of openings. Larger openings and full-height doors need more mesh and sturdier frames.

Frame finish. Standard or matched colour.

Mounting. A simple frame inside the reveal is quick; adding a track to an existing window or working outside on a high floor takes longer.

Most homes mix types, for example pleated mesh on balcony doors and sliding mesh on bedroom windows. The written quote lists every opening separately, so the total is clear before you decide.

How the job runs and how to keep mesh in shape

Book a site visit for ₹99, usually within 24 to 48 hours, adjusted against the bill if you go ahead. We measure every window and door, note how each opens and whether there is a grill, and suggest a mesh type for each. A written, all-inclusive quote usually follows within about two hours of the visit and is valid for three days.

With a 50% advance, the frames and mesh are made to each opening. Fitting is quick, and a typical flat is often finished in a day. The remaining 50% is due on completion.

To keep mesh effective, vacuum it gently with a brush attachment once a month, rinse it before the monsoon, keep the tracks of sliding and pleated mesh free of grit, and pull pleated mesh by its handle rather than by the fabric. See all window and door services in the windows and doors catalogue.

Common questions

Which mosquito mesh is best for windows in Gurgaon?

It depends on the window. Sliding mesh suits aluminium or uPVC sliders with room for a track; pleated mesh suits balcony doors and casements; roller mesh suits inward-opening casements; and fixed mesh suits windows you rarely open. Grey fibreglass is the usual mesh; stainless steel suits pets or monkeys.

Can mosquito mesh be fitted to an existing window without replacing it?

Yes, in most cases. A separate track, a pleated cassette, a roller box or a fixed frame can be fitted to the existing window or the wall around it. The type depends on how the window opens and whether there is a grill, which we check at the site visit.

How much does mosquito mesh cost for a flat in Noida?

It depends on the number and size of openings, the mesh type (fixed, sliding, magnetic, pleated or roller), the mesh material and the frame finish. We do not publish a rate; we measure each opening and send a written, all-inclusive quote, usually within about two hours of the visit.

Is pleated mesh better than sliding mesh?

Neither is better everywhere. Pleated mesh folds out of sight and has a very low track, so it suits doors and wide openings. Sliding mesh is simpler, sturdier and cheaper, and suits windows with a spare track. Pleated mesh needs gentle handling to last; sliding mesh tolerates rougher use.

Balcony door ke liye kaunsi jaali sahi rahegi?

For most balcony doors, pleated mesh is the usual choice. It folds into a slim side cassette, runs on a low track you can step over easily, and stays out of sight when not in use. If the door is being replaced, a three-track sliding door with a built-in mesh shutter is another good option.
