Updated Gurgaon (Gurugram)

Commercial Gurgaon changes its face constantly. A showroom on Sohna Road gets a new tenant and a new frontage; a family shop in old Gurgaon finally replaces its 1990s shutter; an Udyog Vihar factory becomes an office and wants to look like one. ACP cladding in Gurgaon, along with structural glazing, louvres and rolling shutters, is how most of these makeovers are done. This page covers who it suits, how it is priced, and the approvals a Gurugram facade usually needs.

ACP cladding: what to ask for

Aluminium composite panel is two thin aluminium skins bonded to a core. The core is what you should ask about. Standard panels use a polyethylene core; fire-retardant (FR) grade panels use a mineral-filled core that burns far less readily. For anything above a single-storey shopfront, and for any building where people sleep or gather, FR-grade panels are generally the safer and increasingly expected choice. Panel thickness, the skin thickness and the coating (PVDF coatings hold colour better in strong sun than basic polyester) all affect durability in Gurgaon's summer.

  • Frame: ACP is fixed on an aluminium or MS frame, not glued to the wall. The frame is where water and wind loads go.
  • Joints: sealed joints look flush; open grooves look sharper but need a waterproof backing.
  • Signage: lettering can be cut into the ACP or mounted on it; plan the electrics for a lit sign before cladding.

A panel that is bulging, rattling or lifting at the edge has usually lost its frame fixing; see ACP panel loose. Our ACP cladding shopfront guide covers design choices.

Keeping ACP looking new in Gurgaon's dust

ACP collects the same fine dust as everything else on a Gurgaon road, and dark or matt colours show it most. A wash with water and a soft brush every few months keeps the finish clean; pressure washers aimed at the joints can push water behind the panels. Light metallic and white panels hide dust better than black, which is worth weighing for a shop on a dusty stretch of road.

Rolling shutters in a dusty city

Gurgaon's dust gets into shutter guides and the spring barrel, and a shutter that was smooth when new grinds by its second summer. Shutters that face the street directly, as in old Gurgaon markets, suffer most. A new shutter should have guides that can be cleaned and a barrel that can be serviced. Perforated or grill-type shutters let shop lights show through at night; motorised shutters save effort on wide openings but need a power point and a manual override. If an existing shutter jams, see rolling shutter stuck.

Glazed fronts and the afternoon sun

A west-facing showroom on a Gurgaon arterial road takes the full afternoon sun for most of the year, and a glass facade turns that into heat and glare inside. The glass choice decides how comfortable the space is and how hard the air-conditioning works. For structural glazing, solar-control or reflective glass and double-glazed units cut heat gain noticeably compared with clear glass, at the cost of some daylight and a higher price. Aluminium louvres in front of the glass are another answer: fixed fins angled to block the low western sun while leaving the view mostly open. These choices are made at the visit, after we see which way the frontage faces.

Approvals: landlord, complex and municipal

  1. Landlord or owner: a tenant changing a frontage needs written consent, and the lease may say what has to be restored on exit.
  2. Complex or mall management: many retail complexes on Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road have a frontage design code covering colours, signage size and materials.
  3. Signage permissions: large or illuminated signs may need permission from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram; check before fabricating the sign band.
  4. Work hours: facade work on a busy road may be limited to early mornings or nights, and may need the footpath cleared.

What changes the cost of facade work?

  • Area: priced per sq ft.
  • Panel or glass specification: FR or standard ACP; glass thickness and type for glazing.
  • Frame: aluminium or MS, and how much of it the wall needs.
  • Height and access: scaffolding or a boom lift above the first floor adds cost.
  • Shutter operation: manual, gear-operated or motorised.
  • Removal of the old frontage and making good.

The ACP cladding price guide shows how these combine.

How a facade job runs

  1. Book a ₹99 site visit, adjusted against the bill; usually within 24–48 hours.
  2. We measure the elevation, check the wall and access, and agree panel, colour and frame.
  3. A written, all-inclusive quote follows within about 2 hours, valid for 3 days.
  4. 50% advance starts fabrication of the frame and panels.
  5. We install in the hours your site allows; the balance is paid on completion.

Noida shops and buildings are covered on the Noida facades page. For a Gurgaon frontage, send a photo of the building front on WhatsApp or book a visit.

Common questions

What is the cost of ACP cladding in Gurgaon?

ACP cladding is priced per sq ft and quoted after a site visit. The price depends on the panel grade (fire-retardant or standard core), the panel and coating, the frame behind it, the height and access, and any removal of the old frontage. The written quote after the visit is all-inclusive for the agreed scope.

Is FR-grade ACP necessary for a shopfront?

For a small ground-floor shopfront, standard ACP is still widely used, but fire-retardant (FR) grade is the safer choice and is generally expected on multi-storey buildings and places where people gather. The two look the same once fitted, so ask which one your quote includes. The extra cost is usually modest against the whole job.

Shutter jam ho gaya hai, repair hoga ya naya lagana padega?

Many jammed shutters can be repaired. The usual causes are dust packed into the guides, a bent slat or a weak spring in the barrel. If the slats are rusted through or the barrel is badly worn, a new shutter is the better spend. Send a photo and a short video of the shutter moving on WhatsApp so we can tell you which.

Do I need permission to change my shop's frontage in Gurgaon?

Usually from more than one party. A tenant needs the landlord's written consent; a shop in a retail complex must follow the complex's frontage design code; and large or illuminated signage may need municipal permission. Check all three before the frontage is fabricated, since changing a finished facade is expensive.

Can aluminium louvres hide AC outdoor units on a building?

Yes. Fixed aluminium louvres are a common way to screen AC outdoor units, service ducts and plant areas on Gurgaon buildings while letting air flow. The fin spacing and angle are chosen so the units still get enough air to run efficiently. Louvres are priced per sq ft after a site visit.

Can you do structural glazing on an old building?

Often, yes. Structural glazing is bonded to an aluminium frame fixed to the building, so the existing structure has to be sound enough to carry it. Converted factory buildings in Udyog Vihar are a common case. The site visit checks the wall, slab edges and access before a quote is given.
