Aluminium louvre screens for facades, ducts and balconies

Aluminium louvres are rows of extruded aluminium fins fixed at a set angle and spacing on a sub-frame, used to shade glazing, screen service areas and give privacy while keeping air moving. Profiles include aerofoil, Z, C and rectangular box fins, mounted horizontally or vertically, fixed or, in some systems, operable. Finishes are powder coat, anodised or wood-grain effect. Specified on building elevations, over AC outdoor units and service ducts, in front of stair cores and as balcony and terrace privacy screens. Fin depth, spacing and angle decide how much sun and sight they block. Aluminium does not rust and keeps its finish in rain. Measured on site and installed by one team.

Every building has something it would rather not show: AC outdoor units, a service shaft, a neighbour's view into the bedroom, a west wall that turns into a radiator by 4 pm. Aluminium louvres handle all of these. Rows of fins block the sun or the sightline but let the air through. We design louvres for facades, ducts and balconies across Gurugram and Noida, and fabricate and fit them with our own team.

What louvres do, and the profiles to choose from

A louvre is a fin set at an angle. Rows of them form a screen that blocks direct sun or a direct line of sight while leaving gaps for air and diffuse light.

The fin profile affects the look and the performance.

Aerofoil (wing) fins are curved and elegant, with good stiffness for long spans. They are common on commercial facades.

Z and C profiles overlap more for a given spacing, giving more privacy and better rain shedding, and suit service screens.

Rectangular box (tube) fins give a crisp, modern line and are often used as vertical fins on elevations and balcony screens.

Louvres can be horizontal, which work best against high sun on south-facing walls, or vertical, which block the low morning and evening sun on east and west walls and screen sideways views. Fixed louvres are the standard; operable louvre systems can be adjusted but cost more and need upkeep.

For shade over an outdoor space rather than a wall, a terrace pergola with louvres on top is the related solution.

Where louvres solve real problems

AC units and service ducts. Outdoor units on balconies and facades, and open service shafts, are the commonest reason for louvres. The screen hides them, while the gaps keep airflow to the condensers. Spacing must allow enough free area for the units to breathe, or they run hot.

Sun control on glass. On a west-facing office or showroom elevation, vertical fins in front of the glass cut afternoon heat and glare. They often accompany structural glazing or ACP cladding on the same facade.

Privacy on balconies and terraces. In closely spaced builder floors in DLF phases, Sushant Lok or Noida's sector housing, a louvre screen hides a balcony from the neighbours across the lane without blocking the breeze.

Stair cores and parking levels. Louvres ventilate enclosed stairs and stilt parking while giving a finished face to the building.

In societies, louvres on an external face usually need RWA approval, and some societies prescribe a pattern for AC screens so the elevation stays uniform.

Material, finish and fixing

Aluminium is the right material for louvres in Delhi NCR because it does not rust in the monsoon, is light enough to fix onto existing walls, and holds a powder-coat finish well.

Finishes include powder coat in any colour, anodised finishes, and wood-grain effect coatings that give the warmth of timber without its maintenance. Wood-effect vertical fins are a popular way to dress up a builder floor elevation.

Fins are fixed to a sub-frame of aluminium or galvanised steel brackets, which is anchored to the wall or slab edge. The fins clip or screw onto carriers set at the chosen spacing. On high floors, the sub-frame and fixings are sized for wind.

For balconies, louvres can be fixed between the floor and the slab above, to a railing, or on a frame in front of an existing MS balcony railing or grill. For AC screens, a hinged or removable section is planned so technicians can reach the units for servicing.

What drives the cost of aluminium louvres

Louvres are priced by area and specification, and we quote after measuring.

Area of the screen. The overall size of the louvred surface.

Fin profile and size. Larger and deeper fins use more aluminium; aerofoil profiles cost more than simple flat or Z sections.

Spacing. Closer fins mean more fins per square foot.

Finish. Standard powder coat, anodised, or wood-grain effect.

Sub-frame and fixing. Aluminium or galvanised steel, and how far the screen stands off the wall.

Access panels. Hinged or removable sections for AC servicing.

Working height. Ground-level screens versus facades needing scaffolding.

Spacing and profile together usually decide the figure: a privacy screen with close, deep fins can use twice the aluminium of a sun-shading screen over the same wall.

The written quote breaks each of these out, so you can see the effect of changing spacing or finish. For related facade costs see the ACP cladding price guide.

How the job runs and caring for louvres

Book a site visit for ₹99, usually within 24 to 48 hours; it is adjusted against the bill if you go ahead. We measure the area, check fixing points and the direction the screen faces, and agree profile, spacing and finish. A written, all-inclusive quote usually follows within about two hours of the visit and is valid for three days.

After a 50% advance, the sub-frame is made and the fins are cut and finished. Installation is usually quick: the frame is anchored and the fins are fixed in sequence. The balance 50% is due on completion.

Louvres need little care. Rinse them with water a few times a year to remove dust, more often near busy roads, and check the fixings after the pre-monsoon storms. Browse related services in the facades and shutters catalogue, or local details on facades and shutters in Gurgaon.

Common questions

What are aluminium louvres used for?

They shade glass from direct sun, screen AC units and service ducts, give privacy on balconies and terraces, and ventilate stair cores and parking levels. The fins block the sun or the view at an angle while leaving gaps for air and light to pass through.

Horizontal or vertical louvres: which is better?

It depends on the direction the wall faces. Horizontal louvres work best against high midday sun on south-facing walls. Vertical louvres block the low morning and evening sun on east and west walls and screen sideways views, which makes them common for balcony privacy.

How much do aluminium louvres cost in Gurgaon?

It depends on the screen area, fin profile and size, spacing, finish, sub-frame and working height. We do not publish a rate for louvres; we measure and send a written, all-inclusive quote, usually within about two hours of the site visit.

Will louvres in front of AC units affect cooling?

Not if the louvres are spaced to leave enough open area for the units to draw in and expel air. Very tight spacing can make outdoor units run hot. We plan the fin spacing and a hinged or removable panel for servicing when screening AC units.

AC unit chhupane ke liye louvres lag sakte hain kya?

Yes, this is one of the most common uses. A louvre screen in front of the outdoor units hides them while keeping airflow. In societies, check whether the RWA prescribes a pattern for AC screens so the elevation stays uniform, before ordering.
