Glass and metal fabrication projects in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula

Chandigarh is the rare Indian city where the building itself was planned before anyone moved in. Le Corbusier's sector grid, the Sector 17 plaza, the long V-roads and the deliberately uniform frontages shape almost every glass and metal job in the city. Add Mohali on the Punjab side and Panchkula on the Haryana side and you get the tricity: one market, three administrations, and three slightly different sets of rules. FabWise works here on a project basis, which means we take on fabrication jobs big enough to send a measuring and installation team from our Delhi NCR base.

What kind of buildings does the tricity have?

• Chandigarh IT Park (the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park, east of Sukhna Lake): IT and back-office floors that are fitted out tenant by tenant, which is where glass cabins and meeting rooms come in.
• Industrial Area Phase I and II: older sheds converting to showrooms, offices and retail, often needing a new front elevation, a rolling shutter or a mezzanine.
• Mohali: the industrial phases, the towers along Airport Road and the newer sectors towards Aerocity, with a lot of fresh commercial stock and group housing.
• Panchkula and Zirakpur: sector markets, industrial plots in Panchkula's industrial area and dense new housing societies along the Zirakpur stretch.

Why the facade rules matter before anything is drawn

Much of Chandigarh was built under architectural controls that fix how a front elevation may look, and markets were designed as matching rows. A shop-cum-office (SCO) owner who wants a glass front or ACP cladding on the street side should check with the building's owners' body and the estate authorities first, because a change that suits one shop may not be allowed on a uniform row. Mohali and Panchkula have their own development authorities with their own conditions. We will build to an approved drawing; we can't approve one.

How a tricity project works with FabWise

1. Send the requirement on WhatsApp: architect's drawings if you have them, otherwise photos, rough sizes and the site location in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula.
2. We read it and confirm the scope in writing: what is in, what is out, and which items need a closer look.
3. A site visit is scheduled and its terms are agreed with you before anyone travels.
4. After measurement you get a written quote that is all-inclusive for the agreed scope: material, fabrication, transport and installation.
5. Fabrication runs in the workshop. Toughened glass is made to size and generally takes 7–10 days; metal work depends on the drawing.
6. The installation team travels to site, fits everything and hands over.

The glass itself follows the same specifications as our Delhi NCR work: for example, the frameless glass office partition with door uses 12mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass. The per sq ft prices published for Delhi NCR are not the tricity price; travel and the size of the job change the figure, which is why every project here is quoted on its own.

Local conditions we plan for

The tricity has hot, dry summers, a strong monsoon and cold winter mornings with fog. Outdoor MS gates and grills here want proper surface preparation and powder coating or primer and enamel; balcony railings on the upper floors of Mohali towers face more wind than ground-level kothi railings do, so post spacing and anchoring are worked out for the height.
