Shower Partition Replacement on Sohna Road, Gurgaon
In Sohna Road's older societies, shower work means replacing a tired framed cubicle, often without re-tiling. A slim-profile partition with door, from ₹1,100 per sq ft, hides walls that have moved out of square; with new tiles, a frameless partition from ₹500 per sq ft works.

Shower partitions on Sohna Road are mostly replacements. Societies such as Malibu Towne and Uniworld Gardens in Sector 47 have been lived in for well over a decade, and many bathrooms still have the cubicle fitted when the flats were new: aluminium frames gone dull and pitted, plastic seals hardened, and black mould in the silicone line. Owners in this part of Gurugram want something better, but often without the cost and mess of re-tiling. That decides which glass fits.
Re-tile, or keep the tiles?
Everything follows from this question. If you are re-tiling, the bathroom becomes like a new one: walls can be set true and frameless glass is the natural choice. If you are keeping the tiles, you are fitting new glass to walls that have settled, with old screw holes where the previous frame sat.
| Style | Why it suits a Sohna Road society bathroom | From |
|---|---|---|
| Slim profile shower partition with door | Keeping old tiles: the thin black frame covers small out-of-square gaps and old fixing holes | ₹1,100 per sq ft |
| Frameless shower partition with door | After re-tiling, when walls are straight again | ₹500 per sq ft |
| Slim profile enclosure with door | Corner showers in older master bathrooms, kept tiles | ₹1,100 per sq ft |
All three use 10mm Saint-Gobain toughened glass with a 1 year functional warranty on hardware. The slim profiles use imported matte black aluminium; the frameless option uses SS304 fittings.
What comes out with the old cubicle
- The aluminium frame and its screws, leaving holes in the tile.
- The old silicone, which often hides black mould and soaked grout behind it.
- Sometimes a raised plastic or marble threshold, which may have cracked.
- Any shelf or soap dish fixed through the old frame.
Once these are out, the wall and floor are checked. Holes are filled and sealed; soft grout is raked out and redone before the new glass goes up, because silicone over wet grout fails again within months. Partition silicone black mould explains why it returns when the cause is left behind.
Walls that have moved
Older buildings settle. A wall can lean a few millimetres over the height of a shower, and a floor can fall the wrong way. Frameless glass needs straight lines to look right; a framed system takes up the error inside the profile. At the ₹99 site visit we check the walls with a level and tell you honestly which one will look better in your bathroom. The frameless vs framed shower partition guide sets out the trade-off.
Living in the flat while it is done
Unlike a new flat, these homes are occupied. Removal and installation of a single partition is normally done in a day, but the silicone needs time to cure before the shower is used, usually overnight. Plan to use another bathroom for a day. Gate passes and society work hours apply, as in any managed society.
The visit is usually within 24 to 48 hours of booking, the written quote follows within about 2 hours and holds for 3 days, and production of the glass, generally 7 to 10 days, starts on the 50% advance.
If your current door drips onto the floor, read shower door leaking before deciding. Prices are explained in the frameless glass partition price guide. Newer towers in the SPR societies are a different job: empty flats and straight walls.
Common questions
Can I replace my shower cubicle without changing the tiles?
Yes. The old frame and silicone are removed, holes are filled and sealed, and new glass is measured to the existing tile face. Where walls have moved out of square, a slim-profile partition from ₹1,100 per sq ft usually looks better than frameless glass because the frame hides small gaps.
Purane shower cubicle mein kaala fungus aa gaya hai, kya karein?
Black mould in the silicone usually means water has got behind it into the grout. Replacing only the silicone rarely lasts. When the cubicle is replaced, the old sealant and soft grout are removed and redone first, then new glass is fitted and sealed.
How long will our bathroom be out of use?
Removing an old cubicle and fitting new glass is usually done in a day once the glass is ready. The silicone then needs to cure, normally overnight, before the shower is used. Plan to use another bathroom for that day and night.
Is a slim-profile partition more expensive than frameless?
Yes, per square foot. A slim-profile partition with door starts at ₹1,100 per sq ft, a frameless partition with door at ₹500 per sq ft. The slim frame earns its cost in an older bathroom you are not re-tiling, where it hides uneven walls and old fixing holes.
