Replacing Old Steel Windows in Noida Sectors 11 and 12

Original steel and early aluminium windows in Sector 11 and 12 houses are best replaced with uPVC on noisy, dusty frontages and slim aluminium where the elevation suits it. Each opening is measured and quoted after a ₹99 visit, with mosquito mesh planned into the new frame.

White uPVC sliding window set into a freshly plastered opening in an older brick house

Houses in Sectors 11 and 12 that have not been rebuilt still carry their first windows: steel sections set into the brickwork, or aluminium frames from a later round of repairs, usually with single plain glass and a grill bolted outside. Even some rebuilt builder floors reused cheap sliders. Rooms near the Sector 12 market road take the most dust and traffic noise. This page covers one job only: taking those frames out and fitting aluminium and uPVC windows that actually seal.

What comes out of the wall

Old steel frames are usually fixed into the masonry with lugs, so removing them disturbs the plaster around each opening. Expect chasing and making-good on both faces, and plan the repaint for after the windows are in. The outside grill is the other decision. If it is sound, it stays and the new frame is set to clear it; if it is rusted at the anchors, replacing it in the same round avoids drilling around the new frame twice. An MS window grill is quoted on its own at the same visit.

uPVC frames rely on EPDM gaskets and multi-chamber uPVC profiles for their seal, while aluminium sliders depend more on brush seals and good interlocks. If a room already suffers dust and noise through window gaps, that is the room to give uPVC. The uPVC window price guide shows what moves the cost: size, number of sashes, glass type and hardware.

Monsoon at the sill

Older openings often have a flat or back-sloping sill, so rain running down the glass collects against the frame. A new window is set with an outward fall and an external sealant joint, and its drainage slots must face out and stay clear. If you already see rain water coming in at the window, tell us which side of the house it is on; the visit checks the sill as well as the frame.

Checks before the visit

  • Count the openings and note which ones face the road or the market side.
  • Decide who handles plaster and paint after removal; it is written into the quote either way.
  • On a builder floor, ask the other owners whether the front elevation should stay one colour.
  • Clear furniture near each window for installation day, since old frames come out from inside.

The sequence is short: a ₹99 visit, usually within 24–48 hours, with the fee set against the final bill; a free written quote within about two hours, valid for 3 days; 50% advance to start fabrication and 50% on completion. Windows go in one opening at a time so no room is left open overnight. The city-wide range is on windows and doors in Noida; the Sectors 11 and 12 page covers gates and bathrooms, and neighbouring Sectors 15, 16 and Film City has bungalows with much larger openings. Book with a rough count of windows.

Common questions

Can steel windows be replaced without breaking the wall?

Some plaster around the opening is always disturbed, because steel frames are fixed into the masonry with lugs. The brickwork itself stays. The opening is made good and sealed around the new frame, and the plaster and paint touch-up is agreed in the quote so nothing is left half-finished.

uPVC ya aluminium, road wale kamre ke liye kya lein?

For a room facing a busy road, uPVC usually performs better because its welded corners and rubber gaskets seal tighter against dust and noise. Aluminium sliders suit rear rooms and kitchens and come in more colours. Many houses here use both, and we suggest one per room at the visit.

Should I keep my old window grill?

If the grill is solid and firmly anchored, it can usually stay and the new frame is set to clear it. If it is rusted at the wall or loose, replacing it in the same round is cheaper than coming back later. Each grill is checked during the visit.

Do I need permission to change windows in a Sector 11 house?

In a plotted sector there is usually no society design rule for windows. On a builder floor, though, the other owners may want the front elevation to stay uniform, so agree the frame colour with them first. Inside your own floor, the choice is yours.
