- Ask the society whether terrace structures need written approval and whether a design or height limit applies. In high-rise projects they almost always do.
- Find out when the terrace was last waterproofed. Every base plate is a hole through that layer, sealed as part of the job.
- Check whether long steel members can go up in the service lift or must be carried up the stair core.
- In a villa, note where rainwater from the new roof should drain so it does not land on the neighbour's side.
