Commercial Glass Work
Managed Fabrication vs a Local Fabricator vs a Directory Vendor: Which Suits Your Project?
There are three common ways to get glass or metal work done in Delhi NCR. Each suits a different job. A plain comparison of who measures, who answers for the result and where the risk sits.

There are three common ways to buy glass and metal work in Gurugram, Noida and the rest of Delhi NCR: hire a local fabricator directly, pick a vendor from an online directory such as IndiaMART or Justdial, or use a managed fabrication service that measures, quotes, fabricates and installs under one contract. None is right for every job. The difference is who measures, who answers for the finished result, and how much of the coordination falls on you.
What are the three options?
- A local fabricator is a workshop near you: a glass shop, a welding shop or an aluminium fabricator. You deal with the owner, usually in person.
- A directory vendor is a supplier or fabricator you find on a listing site. Listings show product photos and often a per sq ft price; the vendor may be a manufacturer, a trader or a fitter.
- A managed service takes the whole job: site visit, measurement, written quote, fabrication through its own or partner workshops, installation and after-sales, with one point of contact.
How do they compare?
| Local fabricator | Directory vendor | Managed service | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who measures | Usually the fabricator | Often you, or a fitter sent later | The service, at a site visit |
| Quote | Often verbal or handwritten | Listing price, then a revised quote | Written, itemised for the agreed scope |
| Material spec in writing | Varies | Varies; listing may differ from delivery | Named on the quote |
| Installation | Usually included | Sometimes separate, sometimes a different person | Included |
| Mixed trades (glass + metal + windows) | Usually one trade | One vendor per trade | One contract across trades |
| If something goes wrong | The owner, if reachable | Depends on the vendor | One contact answerable for all of it |
| Price | Often lowest on paper | Wide range | Not the lowest; priced for the full service |
| Best for | Small, simple, single-trade jobs where you know the shop | Bulk material, or when you have your own installer | Multi-trade jobs, offices and shops, busy owners, remote clients |
When is a local fabricator the right choice?
When the job is small and in one trade, you can be on site, and you know the workshop's work. A single grill, a repair to a gate, a mirror or a plain glass pane: a good local shop does these quickly and cheaply. The risk rises with the size of the job. A verbal quote leaves the section thickness, finish and hardware open, and if the glass is cut by one person and fitted by another, a problem tends to belong to nobody. Our guide on comparing fabrication quotes shows what to get in writing.
When does a directory vendor make sense?
Directories are good for finding suppliers and comparing material prices, and many genuine manufacturers list there. They suit buyers who already have their own installer or site engineer, or who are buying material in bulk. Read listing prices carefully: a figure per sq ft may be bare glass or bare profile, not fitted, and not inclusive of hardware, transport or tax. Check the seller's GST registration, how long they have been listed, and real reviews, and ask whether the person who fits is the person who quoted.
When is a managed service worth paying for?
When the job crosses trades or sites, or when the cost of coordinating is higher than the saving. An office fit-out with glass cabins, a shopfront, windows and a shutter; a society replacing railings across towers; a builder floor needing gates, grills, railings and shower glass; or an owner who lives in another city. One measurement, one written quote and one contact replace three or four vendors and the gaps between them.
How does FabWise work?
FabWise is a managed fabrication service across Delhi NCR. A site visit costs ₹99 and is adjusted against the final bill; it is usually arranged within 24–48 hours. The written quote is all-inclusive for the agreed scope, usually sent within about 2 hours of the visit and valid for 3 days. Payment is 50% advance, which starts fabrication, and 50% on completion. Warranty applies to fittings, not to the glass itself. Full terms are on the FAQ, and the services are listed on the services page.
For businesses, see work for offices, retail shops, housing societies and builders and developers. If you already have quotes from a local fabricator or a directory vendor, book a site visit and compare ours against them line by line.
Common questions
What is managed fabrication?
Managed fabrication is a service that takes a glass or metal job from site visit and measurement through a written quote, fabrication and installation, with one point of contact answerable for the result. The buyer does not coordinate a separate supplier, fabricator and installer.
Is a local fabricator cheaper than a managed service?
Usually, on the quoted price. A local workshop has lower overheads and may leave items such as finish, hardware brand or installation unstated. For a small single-trade job you can supervise, that saving is real. For larger or multi-trade jobs the cost of coordination and rework often outweighs it.
Are IndiaMART prices for glass partitions fitted prices?
Not always. A per sq ft price on a listing can be for bare glass, bare profile or the fitted job, and may exclude hardware, transport and GST. Ask the vendor what the rate includes, who installs, and to put the specification in writing before comparing it with other quotes.
Who is responsible if a glass partition fails after installation?
It depends who you contracted with. If one party measured, supplied and installed, that party answers for it. If the glass came from one vendor and the fitter from another, each may blame the other. Agree in writing who is responsible for measurement, fabrication and installation before work starts.
Office ke kaam ke liye local fabricator ya managed service?
For one small repair or a single item, a trusted local fabricator is fine. For an office with glass cabins, doors, windows and shutters, a managed service gives one measurement, one written quote and one contact for everything, so nothing falls between vendors. Compare both on the same written specification.
