Staircase and Balcony Railings for New Houses in Chi, Phi and Omega
In a new Chi, Phi or Omega house, the railing decisions are the stair, the balconies and the terrace parapet. SS304 is the long-lasting choice indoors, glass keeps a balcony open, and MS suits a painted exterior. Railings are measured once flooring is laid and quoted after the site visit.

A new plotted house in Chi, Phi or Omega has more railing than most owners expect: the internal staircase from ground to top, a balcony or two on the front, sometimes a balcony over the rear garden, and a terrace edge that may need a guard above the parapet. Railings in Chi, Phi and Omega are therefore a small project of their own, and they come late in construction, after the stone is laid but before the final polish.
Which railing goes where?
| Railing | Why it suits a new Chi, Phi or Omega house | Price basis |
|---|---|---|
| Staircase railing | The largest railing in the house, seen from the living area; SS304 or glass | Quoted after visit |
| SS balcony railing | Low-maintenance front balconies that face the road | Quoted after visit |
| Glass balcony railing | Rear balconies over a garden, where the view matters | Quoted after visit |
| MS balcony railing | Matching a painted MS gate and grills on the elevation | Quoted after visit |
SS304 or SS202 for the stair?
Both look identical on the day they are fitted. The difference shows after a few monsoons: SS202 has less nickel and chromium and tends to show brown spots in humid conditions, especially near a bathroom or terrace door. SS304 resists that much better. SS304 vs SS202 explains the chemistry, and the MS vs SS railing guide compares steel with painted MS. If a quote does not say which grade, ask.
Fixing: base plate, side mount or spigot
On a new stair, the fixing is chosen before the stone goes down. Base plates sit on the tread and are covered by a cap; side fixings go into the stair's edge and keep the full tread width clear. Glass on a balcony is commonly held on glass railing spigots or in a base channel. Each needs solid concrete behind it, which is easy to plan now and hard to add later. A loose handrail or a railing that wobbles almost always traces back to a fixing into weak material.
Heights and gaps for a family home
Balcony railings should be high enough that an adult cannot topple over and gapped so a child cannot slip through or climb. Horizontal bars look modern but act as a ladder. The balcony railing height and safety guide sets out sensible dimensions; we follow it unless you ask otherwise and will explain why.
- Finish the stair stone and balcony flooring before the measuring visit.
- Decide the grade of steel, the infill (balusters, glass or both) and the handrail profile.
- Confirm the fixing method with the mason so concrete is solid where anchors go.
- Keep the stair free on installation day; it is out of use for a few hours.
How it is quoted and fitted
Book the ₹99 visit, adjusted against your bill. We measure each run on the finished surfaces and check the edges. The written quote follows, usually within about two hours, valid for 3 days, listing grade, infill and fixing. After the 50% advance, steel is fabricated and any glass is toughened to size, generally 7–10 days; installation follows, with the balance on completion. The SS railing price guide covers the cost drivers.

Common questions
When should staircase railings be measured in a new house?
After the stair's final stone or tile is laid, and ideally before the final polish. Railings sit on or into the finished surface, so measuring on rough concrete gives wrong heights. The fixing method should be agreed earlier so the concrete is solid where anchors go.
Seedhi ke liye SS 304 lein ya 202?
SS304 is the better choice for a house you will live in for years. SS202 looks the same at first but tends to show rust spots in humid weather, especially near bathrooms and terrace doors. The quote names the grade so you can compare like with like.
Can I have glass on the balcony and steel on the stair?
Yes, and many new houses do. Glass keeps a garden-facing balcony open, while an SS stair railing is hard-wearing for daily use. Matching the handrail profile across both ties them together. Both are measured at one visit and quoted together.
How much does a staircase railing cost in Greater Noida?
There is no fixed rate. Running length, height, steel grade, infill and the fixing method all change the price. We measure at the site visit and send an all-inclusive written quote, usually within about two hours. The SS railing price guide explains the factors.
