Gates, Grills and Steel Work for Chhatarpur Farmhouses

The main entrance usually gets a large MS sliding gate, but the service gate on the back lane is a swing MS main gate sized for a tempo or a car, often with a pedestrian door. Rust starts at the bottom
Farmhouse steel lives in conditions city gates never see: lawn sprinklers every morning, unpaved drives that splash mud, and soil heaped against the base of walls. Three things help: keep steel clear of soil with a plinth, aim sprinklers away, and specify hot-dip galvanising under the paint for anything at ground level.
Grills on staff quarters
Quarters and pump rooms along the boundary are the least watched part of a large plot. An MS window grill with close bar spacing, anchored well into the wall, is standard. In older boundary walls, anchors in crumbling brick are why a grill comes loose from the wall; we fix into sound masonry or a concrete band.
Up to the roof
Main houses here often have water tanks, solar panels or a party terrace on the roof. An external MS spiral staircase gives access without a staircase through the house. It needs a concrete base, a landing at the parapet and a handrail, and on an open site it should be galvanised and painted.

Why do farmhouse gates rust so quickly at the bottom?
Sprinkler spray, mud splashed from unpaved drives and soil touching the steel keep the bottom rail wet. Lifting the gate clear of the ground, redirecting sprinklers and using galvanising under the paint slow it down far more than an extra coat of paint.
Farmhouse ki chhat ke liye spiral seedhi bahar lag sakti hai?
Yes, if there is room beside the house for its diameter and a sound base. It needs a landing at the parapet and a handrail all the way up. On an open farmhouse, galvanising under the paint keeps it from rusting. It is quoted after the site visit.
Our staff-quarter grills have come loose. Can they be refixed?
Often. Grills usually loosen because anchors were set in weak brick or the bars rusted at the wall. If the grill is sound, it can be refixed into sound masonry with longer or chemical anchors. If the bars are thin with rust, a new grill is better. Send a photo first.
