Dwarka is the planned sub-city in South West Delhi, laid out by the DDA in numbered sectors and built mainly as cooperative group housing societies (CGHS), with DDA flats alongside. Most societies are four to ten storeys of brick and concrete, many handed over twenty or more years ago. That age is the single biggest fact about glass and window work in Dwarka: the original fittings are reaching the end of their life at roughly the same time, block after block.

The sub-city is served by the Blue Line, which ends at Dwarka Sector 21, and the Airport Express Line, extended to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 for the convention centre. Why windows are the first job in an older Dwarka flat

Original windows in many society flats are basic aluminium sliders with thin glass and worn rollers. After two decades they rattle, let dust in, leak in the monsoon and do little against aircraft and road noise. The usual choices on replacement:

Society rules come before the order

A CGHS society is run by its elected managing committee, and most have rules about what can change on the outside of a flat: window frame colour, grills on the facade, balcony enclosures and the hours when drilling is allowed. Before the site visit, it helps to ask the society office three questions.

Is there a standard frame colour or grill design for windows facing the road?
Which hours and days is noisy work allowed, and does the guard need a worker list?
Can material go up the lift, or only by the stairs?

Many older societies have small lifts or none at all in the walk-up blocks, so a long shower panel or window frame may have to be carried up a stairwell. We check that route at the visit, because toughened glass cannot be cut once it has been tempered.

Bathrooms: renovation, then glass

When a Dwarka flat is renovated, the bathroom usually gets new tiles and a glass partition instead of a shower curtain. Old glass doors and broken panels

Society clubhouses, gyms and ground-floor shops in the sector markets often have frameless glass doors that drop or slam as the floor spring wears. Those are glass repairs, quoted from a photo or video on WhatsApp without a paid visit. A broken toughened glass replacement is made to measure, since a tempered panel cannot be trimmed on site.

How much does it cost to replace windows in a Dwarka flat?

Aluminium and uPVC windows have no fixed published rate, because the opening sizes, frame system, glass and mesh decide the price. After the ₹99 site visit you get a written, all-inclusive quote, usually within about 2 hours and valid for 3 days. The visit fee is adjusted against the final bill if you go ahead.

Will uPVC windows reduce aircraft noise in Dwarka?

They usually help noticeably, because most noise enters through gaps around the sash rather than through the glass. A well-sealed uPVC frame with good gaskets cuts that leakage. Do I need society permission to change windows in Dwarka?

Usually you should inform the managing committee, and many societies have rules on frame colour and grills visible from outside. Work inside the flat, such as a shower partition, rarely needs approval beyond the society's work-hours rules. Check with your society office before ordering frames.
