Windows, Shower Glass & Grills in Mayur Vihar, East Delhi

Mayur Vihar is a large residential area in East Delhi, across the Yamuna and next to the Noida border. Phase I came up around 1979–80 as DDA flats in Pockets I to V alongside cooperative society buildings; Phase II and Phase III followed, with Phase III mainly DDA flats in LIG, MIG and Janta categories. Mayur Vihar-I is an interchange between the Blue and Pink Lines, and Mayur Vihar Extension serves the area further east. Phase III has no station of its own.

That history gives Mayur Vihar a very particular housing stock: compact flats in four-storey blocks, often with small bathrooms, steel or early aluminium windows and balconies that families have long wanted to make more usable.

Older blocks still have their original windows, often painted shut or sliding badly. Grills and safety doors in walk-up blocks

Ground and top floors in walk-up blocks usually have grills, many now rusting at the anchors. A new MS window grill and an MS safety door at the flat entrance are common pairings. Mild steel needs primer and paint or powder coating; untreated steel near the floodplain rusts fast.

Shared glass doors at the pocket markets and community centres also wear out.
