Should the new gate be ready for a motor?
Even if you are not automating now, a sliding gate built on a level track with end stops and a rack mounting is easy to motorise later; retrofitting a gate never designed for it is not. Finish for steel that lives outside
Gates and outdoor stairs sit in sun and rain for decades. Mild steel needs primer and paint at minimum, and powder coating or hot-dip galvanising lasts much longer. Decorative panels in a CNC laser-cut jaali pattern are popular on gates here; they need the same finish care at every cut edge.
