Window Grills, Safety Doors & Steel Stairs in Sectors 4 to 9, Gurgaon
In Sectors 4 to 9, metal fabrication is mostly grills and safety doors for older houses split into rented floors, plus the occasional external steel stair so an upper floor gets its own entry. Everything is made in the workshop in sections small enough to carry down a narrow lane, and quoted after a ₹99 visit.

The houses around Old Railway Road, Basai Road and the Housing Board colony in Sector 7 are older than most of Gurugram. Walls are brick with lime or cement plaster that has been patched for decades, windows are small, and the lanes are often too tight for a delivery vehicle to reach the door. Metal fabrication in Sectors 4 to 9, Gurgaon, has to work around all three: grills that fix into old masonry, doors that fit openings no longer square, and steel that arrives by hand.
Window grills, done for an old wall
A grill is only as strong as what it is fixed into. In soft, older brick, anchors that would hold in concrete can pull loose, which is why a grill comes loose from the wall far more often in these sectors than in new buildings. The usual answer is longer lugs grouted deep into the masonry, or fixing to the window's RCC lintel and sill where they exist.
| Grill type | Where it suits in Sectors 4–9 | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed MS window grill, vertical bars | Ground-floor windows on a lane | Bar gap small enough that a hand cannot reach the latch |
| Grill with a hinged, lockable section | At least one bedroom window per floor | Keep the key near the window, not in a drawer |
| Box grill projecting outward | Kitchens, for pots and a little extra light | Its top collects water; slope it |
| Grill plus mosquito mesh behind | Rooms that stay open in summer | Plan the mesh frame with the grill |
On a tall house with every window barred, the hinged section is the way out in a fire. Our window grill designs for safety guide shows patterns that keep burglars out without trapping the family in.
Safety doors for rented floors
When a house is let floor by floor, each tenant's door opens onto the shared stair. An MS safety door in front of it gives a lockable steel barrier and lets air through. In an older house the door frame is often out of square, so the safety door's frame is made to the measured opening, not to a standard size, and packed true when it is fixed. A door that clatters every time it closes usually has a twisted frame or worn hinges; see safety door rattling.
A separate stair for the upper floor
Some owners want tenants upstairs to stop walking through the family's floor. An external MS spiral staircase in a side setback or rear courtyard gives the upper floor its own entry on a small footprint. It needs a sound foundation pad and a landing fixed to the slab, and the setback must actually be the owner's to build on. Our spiral staircase guide covers diameters and step sizes.
Rust, and the stains it leaves
Grills in these sectors have usually been painted over many times without the rust being removed, so the paint lifts and brown streaks run down the plaster below; see rust stains on the wall. New work is primed and painted after the steel is cleaned, and on wet faces hot-dip galvanising under the paint is worth asking about.
From booking to fixing
The visit costs ₹99, adjusted against the final bill, and is usually arranged within 24 to 48 hours. Every window and door is measured, the written quotation follows within about two hours and stays valid for 3 days, and the workshop starts after the 50% advance. Traffic at the Basai Road railway crossing decides delivery times, so fixing usually starts mid-morning.
Windows themselves are covered on windows and doors in Sectors 4 to 9, the whole area on the Sectors 4 to 9 page, and the city on metal fabrication in Gurgaon. See all styles in the metal fabrication catalogue, and the neighbouring township on Palam Vihar. Book a visit and we will measure every grill and door in one trip.
Common questions
Can new grills be fixed into the old brick walls of a Sector 5 house?
Usually, yes, with the right fixing. Soft older brick does not hold short anchors well, so grills are fixed with longer lugs grouted deep into sound masonry, or into the RCC lintel and sill where they exist. We check the wall at the site visit before deciding the fixing.
Is an openable grill safe against burglars?
Yes, if it is made properly. The hinged section is framed in the same steel as the rest of the grill and closes with a lock that cannot be reached from outside through the bars. Keep the key near the window so it can be found quickly in an emergency.
Tenant ke liye alag seedhi lag sakti hai kya?
Often, yes. An external MS spiral staircase in a side or rear setback can give an upper floor its own entrance on a small footprint. It needs a foundation pad, a landing fixed to the slab and space you are allowed to build on. It is quoted after the visit.
